It sounds like you had more fun than I, Lynn. We went to bed at 10:30 (exhausted from a previous night), only to have the college students across the street throw another party. Several neighbors complained to them and the cops were called (they never came). The kids who live there started breaking up the party as soon as they heard the cops were called and then tried to convince my wife and I that they were "responsible" college students who just turned 21 and never expected so many people to attend... Boo hoo! It was finally around 2 am that we finally got to sleep.@CountBoredom, we watched Insidious yesterday...same principle! It was suspenseful and entertaining!![]()
I think we scared them pretty well, so tonight should be quieter. After little sleep and a day of soccer (my daughter's team plays in less than two hours), I wonder if my wife and I will be able to stay awake for date night, though.I'm so glad that my neighborhood has finally settled down now. All the party animals have left. I hope tonight will be better for you.
I know, right? For the first time in a long time, both of our kids have sleepovers. My wife and I were talking about it and wondered what we should do.Date night??? What are they??![]()
I must confess I was a little confused.... but I went with it.I just realized I tagged the wrong person in my comment about the movie! Sorry @Roadtrip635 and @CountBoredom!
I'm sorry to hear that happened, Lynn. Still, it does save you from the hassle of having to primp and plan...I haven't had a date night in over 2 years!! After I threw out my ex boyfriend for cheating on me I just have no interest.![]()
I love shrimp and crab gumbo!10/24 #1
That's my favorite, especially with a little crab in it! Yum Yum!!!
It's a hearty Cajun stew, with okra, it also has onion, celery and bell pepper. The heart of every good gumbo is the roux, which gives it the body, color, and depth of flavor. I used to work at a seafood restaurant for several years and we cooked our roux for 7 days. It gave the gumbo a very rich, deep, full flavor. As far as proteins, whatever is on hand, some of the more traditional would be shrimp, crab, oysters, chicken, duck, andouille(spicy Cajun sausage), crawfish, gator etc. Most gumbos have a couple different proteins in 'em. The gumbo is served with a scoop or two of rice in it.
My favorite has shrimp and crab with a few oysters tossed in and a bit diced andouille. That's just good eating right there!![]()
