I was stung close to 25 times by yellow jackets when I was a child. Now I'm allergic to their stings.
25 times? Ouch! That's enough to warrant avoiding them even if you weren't allergic....

10/27 - 6: Don't know how to do those "partial quotes" However Uncle said "@tiggerrts . . . So - The only thought I have right now off the top of my head about a "Story Idea" . . . Well since the holidays are coming up, would be really nice to read something that involves the celebrations . . . More importantly, how about an adult one that is not sicking sweet and without being sad, melancholy, dismal, nor - especially morose . . . One that is non sectarian or political at all . . . AND - Is really about - Enjoying what we have and Who is around "Us" . . . Just a thought . . . ;)

Okay what a tough set of rules to follow.... especially the adult part. However you have made me think of a whole new train of thought. I will ponder it some more........ hope ecf does not ban me for some parts though ;) Dang Uncle you have me thinking... Good night all.:tumble:

Wifey and I rented Pixels from Redbox tonite. It was pretty good, brought back a lot of memories when games were more simple but much better than the games my kids play. Now video games look like a movie not a game. Your opponents used to be make believe characters now they are other people and real looking things. Ah for the old days when I was a young man. Enough reminiscing from a old man.

Edit: Anybody up for a game of asteroids?

You should check out some of the good indie games that are released on a daily basis. Roguelikes in particular adhere to the simple nature of graphics and focus more on game play and design rather than eye-candy.

Dinner time has arrived at the Boredom household. Good night, Treefam!

10/27 - 4: Interesting day at work, and the wasps were back in greater force, was truly horrifying at times. Hitting you in the face, arms, legs, chest; landing on you. Open a door and there are 20 or more waiting to come in. Man I can't wait for this job to be done.
:tumble:
Yikes, I can't wait for that job to be done too!

I got Wifey's flower bed dug up, bulbs planted. Hopefully they'll come up in the spring and look nice for her.

I am not scared of them, just do not like being stung.
Never ever been stung by a wasp and they land on me quite regularly here every fall.
I was stung close to 25 times by yellow jackets when I was a child.
Been maybe 30 years since a yellow jacket has stung me. Mild annoyance, small bump, rather like a mosquito bite, and I don't get those anymore either. Seems my aura acts like a force field... they can land on me, but no biting/stinging is permitted.

On top of Cape Perpetua on the Orygun coast. Really high up for being a beach thing...

Don't think I'm going to be able to stay up long enough to make six posts tonight. I overdid it on sawing up those dead trees and carrying big heavy rounds back to the truck really wore me out. I was dragging my .... so badly that I tripped on a branch and fell, with round in hands, and landed hard, hurting my left shoulder, left ribs, and lower back (even more than it usually hurts). Therefore, it took me much longer than normal to finish getting it all in the truck and I got home 20 minutes too late and Lannie was really ticked off (unless you have actually faced a ...... off redhead, you cannot know what I mean). When I did not show up at 5 PM, she started calling to get someone to go look for me (in case I was hurt too bad to get out of there by myself - given that I am so disabled, this is a standing order). In any case, I have rubbed her Ouchie Fixit Stuff all over my owies and I'm sure I will feel fine tomorrow.

Look, there really are trees back there! It's OK Robin... just another one of those "chicks."

What a nice path to come back from the beach on (I really should have gotten some better fitting clothes - they were gettin' baggy)

My dad was an electrician but he worked in the textile plant here. I know what you mean about being stung. I was stung close to 25 times by yellow jackets when I was a child. Now I'm allergic to their stings.

Oddly enough, it was a yellow jacket sting that confirmed the presence of a higher power to me at a young age. I was 6-7 yrs old and I was bouncing one of those cheapo volleyball sized kids plastic balls inside the house. My mom kept yelling to me from the next room to stop bouncing the ball or I would break something. I would stop for a minute or two and start bouncing again, this went on a few times and Mom was getting mad. All of a sudden, I was bouncing the ball and it got away from me and knocked a small painting of Christ that was hanging on the wall....uh oh.....

My Mom heard the crash and saw what happened, as she entered the room I bolted for outside. My Mom didn't get mad often, but she was very displeased with me right then. As I'm running out the side door, I hear her saying that Jesus will punish me for what I did. I run straight to my swingset and jump on a swing and start swinging. I immediately see something out of the corner of my eye and see a yellowjacket buzzing around the chain of the swing near the top. As soon as I see him he flies right at my face and stings me just above my right eye!

I run back in the house crying and saying I'm sorry as my Mom finds out what happened. My Mom calms me down and gets some mud to rub over the yellowjacket sting. As she's soothing me, she reminds me that God/Jesus will punish little boys that are bad. Call it instant karma or whatever you'd like, but that totally cemented the presence of God and he wasn't messing around that day. It was a very quick lesson learned.

Enough mushy stuff for one day. This is just a cherry tree growing in one of my lilac hedges.
