Guess it is time to wrap up another day. Good night TreeFam.

There's quite a story that comes with this place, but I'll try to keep it short. They call it "Smith House" and it's in, of all places, Smith Canyon. Seems some guy (named Smith - what a coincidence!) built it entirely of concrete, back before concrete became popular or even regularly used in construction. He even made the bathtub out of concrete and the stairway to the second level (obviously long since destroyed). Seems he did all this as a wedding present for his fiancee' (some upper class pioneer's daughter from the city of Bend). But when he took her out there to see it, she said she could not see the beautiful snow capped mountains from there and refused to live there (after all that work!). I think they never got married in the end... Too bad someone didn't make an official memorial out of the place and preserve it - instead, it looks to me like a lot of rednecks have used it for target practice. (That's a camera in my hands, by the way, not a gun.)

Hey Trip! What do you suppose it would cost for you to buy some of that, put in a cooler with freezer packs, and mail it to South Dakota? :)

Back in Orygun. This is at Flying M Ranch (now a resort lodge) in the Coast Range Mountains.

2. Oh boy what a day...power went out 3 times at the bf's...only just came on about 20 minutes before I had to leave...then the trip home was very harrowing...heavy rain and lots of wind, car being blown all over the road, and I couldn't see more than a couple of feet in front of me...didn't help that my headlights are crap and so can't see too far anyway...ended up behind a car with his flashers on and followed him as at least I could see him...was never so glad to make it home as I was tonight!

@BamaBabe4Ever - hope you feel better soon sweetie! Sending healing vibes for you!

That's always scary, driving in conditions like that. I'm glad you got home safe. Sounds like you're getting what we had here, a day or two earlier. I stayed home for most of it and luckily power never went out, but parts of the city did have some outages.

@angelphyre Im glad you made it home safe! I hate driving in rain period so I can't imagine driving in heavy rain plus wind.
@BamaBabe4Ever I hope you're feeling better by now!

Good morning TreeFam! Long day at work for me! Counting the days now until Thanksgiving!
