Good morning, everyone. Got some exciting vape mail coming today! Also, ordered 100ft each of 24, 26, 28, and 32awg kanthal last night. I got some stuff this weekend to help me make some clapton wire, so hopefully my second attempt will be a little easier.

To each and everyone of you for Playing Nice and behaving while I am gone . . .

Now for an "Uncle" Update: Like "GMO" - I am still recouping too, however I am recouping from "My" Quintuple Bypass Operation that took place over 7 weeks ago . . . AND - While some people knew this already - I had asked for it to be kept quite and out of the thread until I was ready to mention it to everyone . . . More importantly, to be Absolutely Honest - although I know we are very close in this special "family" thread, I really did not want "My" health issues either to take over this thread with something so personal - nor did I want or feel anyone should be posting the obligatory get well/good vibes/praying for Ya' stuff (AND - VERY important there is NO NEED for anyone to do so now either) . . . Anyway - Just thought I would let people know - Now that I am on "My" way to getting back to normal (well normal for 'Me" ) and will be going to Outpatient Cardiac Rehab within the next couple of weeks . . . So Yes - I am back on ECF under very limited conditions, especially given that I can barely type with the peripheral neuropathy from Diabetes that has extended into my hands/fingers after the operation . . . I will post again when I can . . .

Nice ta SEE ya AND that you're on the mend!
Just got back from a Godiva "dipping class" for the kids--I'm all chocolated-out right now. Few hours trying to get things done and then it's off to a friend's house for dinner.

Glad to read that you finally got some rubber-ducky time, @Uncle. I was beginning to wonder what that smell was...

I may be driving 40 mins round trip, just so I can soak in tub today. ;)
Went and looked at the house. I want to get it but don't know how things will work out. There were others there looking as well and I know at least some of them want it. Bunch of crap I never heard of before - application process, first in gets first shot on that if they pass the investigation. I can understand a check to make sure you can pay and won't cause trouble but damn this thing looks like it goes a bit too deep for just renting a house - If I was buying and applying for a loan maybe but I just wanna rent a house not the penthouse presidential suite of the lala risty joint. Not worried about being able to pass any of their checks, just hoping my application got into the system correctly and before anyone else.
Never had to go thru anything like this before to rent a place - would just go, say yeah I'll take it, go back to the office, fill out paper work and move in.
It has become ridiculous with what it takes to rent a place these days. Around here, some prospective tenants are writing letters and/or providing letters of recommendation from previous landlords and/or employers!

Hope everyone is having a great day. Wifey's brother and sister in law had us over for dinner. It was really nice because other than the Dr's office or the hospital Wifey hasn't been out of the house since Christmas! It was great to get her out, that and I didn't have to cook or clean up so it was a win-win. Tomorrow she'll probably be not feeling good as it always seems to take her a couple days to recoup from any adventures out and about.

:tumble:
Awesome!
I hope Wifey rebounds from yesterday's outing quickly.

My gf and I are playin' hooky today. We had a 'lil too much fun this weekend!

Have a great day, everyone!

yup ..it is pretty common for them to award a rental on best credit report also. If I were a landlord, I'd sure be lookin at credit reports. It's a ruff and tumble world...renting. My bro had to hire an agent to rent out his condo in Orlando ...that didn't last long

Maybe. But I've bought some around here at shops and they charge around a dollar or two for a few feet of it. I found these four spools for $11.95 with free shipping on eBay. So it was justified in my head. lol

My wife questioned why I needed that much, too. She also questioned why I needed 500ft of rayon. She'll probably also question why I need so much nicotine base and vg base when I buy a big order of that. Then she won't even notice when I don't have to buy any vape stuff for a while. lol

Afternoon treefam. I went to see the surgeon about my neck. He said he can operate same day out surgery and relieve 50-60% of my pain. I was told there is a 5-10% risk involved so that seems good and low. Recovery is 2-4 weeks at home so should not be tooooo bad. I see no way to do it here while wifey is in Orlando so looks like I'm stuck waiting until after May. I got a call into my lawyer to see what he can do about getting workers compensation to cover it. It's a total pain as we have just switched insurances and my pain dr doesn't accept it, and then to make it more interesting my family dr abruptly quit because she needs to take care of her family in another state. Nice to be in pain with no one to turn to.

JP I'm glad you and Mrs. JP were able to get out and see family for Easter. This was the first holidays ay piggy and I have not been together.

3/28 #1 PIF to @xena222 (where ya hiding, kitten?) :)

Well, Monday morning... Sun is shining today, so I guess I need to get this old .... outside and do more garden prep because Tuesday night and all day Wednesday, the weather dude says Winter will be returning to our area. I haven't looked at the maps myself yet, but I suspect it is merely a cold front and Spring will be back two days later... Still haven't managed to figure out why the riding mower won't start and I desperately need to mow the pastures so the new grass won't be shadowed by the old dead stuff. Ah, life on the farm...

Hey @Neilus Welcome to ECF, guy!. Come check out this neat contest thread where you can win some really great e-juice (see Page 1 for the "rules"). Lot's of neat folks on here too. Join in the conversations...

Still, @jpf880 ...sounds like it was a VERY good time ...and hope wifey is recouping with a smile on her face :nun:

Hard to say about the lawyer, that's what he gets paid for lol. The surgery is going to have to wait till I move cause I can't have it and not have anyone to take care of me after. I'm happy there is an option to relieve some of the pain at least.

I tried with just a drill first, but I couldn't really keep the core steady. So I had seen some people using swivels they attached to a screw on a board. This way they could keep the core wire pulled tight. I got some Eagle Claw barrel swivels from the fishing tackle section at Wal-Mart. And I happened to see this smalle project clamp at Fred's the other day. I used a little bit of my 22awg kanthal to connect everything. I put two of the swivels on there in case one siezes up while using it.
14591925620071.jpg

So it will look like this when I try. I'll keep my drill laying down so all I have to do is pull the trigger and keep a little tension on the core. Then I won't have to worry about trying to hold the drill up, too. And I'll have the spool for the clapton in the other hand. I tried a little small piece the other day and it worked great. Once it got started, all I had to do was hold tension on the clapton wire and it pretty much did the rest itself.

That's a pretty cool idea! I like that! I know what you mean about keeping the core stready. It's gets harder and harder as you go to thinner wire. I may have to try that idea! Thanks for the pictures!

View attachment 542953
Yeah, my first attempt was with 22awg core. By the time I was a couple inches away from the drill it was moving around way too much.

I may end up trying the board, too. It would keep the core more level. GrimmGreen has a video where he does it this way. That's where I saw the idea. He uses the clamp to attach the board to the table.
