TIOA Sns9 eps 38: Theo stretched his arms above his head, and opened his eyes, he turned back towards the fire, but there was no flame. He looked for a moment at the embers and breathed in and looked slowly around, he could see his mom and brothers on the ground still sleeping. He got up and saw the deer still cooking and it smelled good. He took his little sword in his right hand and started to cut at the meat, it was not easy but he was very hungry.
Theo cut and more ripped at the meat and bite into it, his eyes closed as his stomach growled at him. He chewed fast and took another deep bite and tore it away, the piece he cut was gone soon, and he stood. He grabbed his shirt and took off Pallab's coat and put it on, and then took his coat and put it back on. He took his pants and put them on and his now dry shoes, taking Pallab's coat he laid it on top of his brother.
Theo was thirsty and put on all of his clothes and went to the entrance of the cave, he opened the bear coat and the sun was up and bright, he walked outside and breathed in the cool fresh air. After a few deep breathes he went towards the water, he was thirsty. Theo walked to the stream that feed to the river through the light snow and noticed a lot of footprints.
Theo continued on and knelt at the water and dipped his hand in, it was cold but fresh and took a good drink, he dipped his hand again and it was not enough so he took both hands and cuffed them and brought more water to his mouth, as he swallowed and looked back towards the trees there was a sound behind him and he felt terror and went for his sword.
Theo spun and saw his mother whose hair was coming undone and dirty, her clothes covered and dark. "You know Theo, if you wanted to take a bath there are better ways than to jump into freezing water." She smiled at Theo and knelt down, and he smiled and took another drink of water. Abby took water in her hands and poured it on her face many times, she also soaked her hair. She then took a skin water bottle taken from the large man and filled it, she drank from it and looked at Theo.
He was watching her and washed his face as well, she waited and handed the skin canteen to her son, he took it and drank a lot. Abby said. "Slowly, not too much at one time." and Theo stopped and breathed in. "Mother, are we staying here?" Abby washed a little more and tried to get some of the dark off of her coat, she replied back. "No, we are going to have to leave." "Why?" asked Theo. His mother looked at him and said.
"That big man in the cave that tried to kill you is only one, there are many and they will be following us; we have to go." Theo listened and did not understand and asked. "Why do they want us?" Abby took the skin canteen back from him and filled it again, she waited and thought. "Theo, there are people who wish to do bad." Theo asked back. "What do you mean bad?" His mother stood and said "You are too young yet to understand that, go back in and wake your brothers and eat."
Theo got up and walked back to the cave, his mother watched him go in and she took her hand into her coat pocket and took out a small leather purse, she opened it to make sure as the night light was dim, the man her sons killed carried it and it had a few pieces of gold and many pieces of silver. She put it back in her coat and looked at the footprints, he did not come on foot to follow, he must have had a horse.
