maybe its just down to pot luck fish.. being a crim and getting caught usually is..

wayne makes all this clear on his website.. he has certain countries on his blacklist.. the UK is easy.. under manned and over whelmed.. in the past i would never buy from hong kong for fear of import duties..

now i am little wiser and know if i keep it small and cheap the risk is worth taking.. the customs aint stupid.. they would have to be not to know about the chinese gift under value thing..

just for interest.. this can backfire on wayne.. he knows this.. he is insured for postal losses.. but not for the hundred dollars the item is worth.. just for the five dollars he sticks on the packet..

he knows without the lie none of us would buy his products.. bob thinks otherwise but i kinda go along with wayne.. i wouldnt buy the stuff if i had to pay rip off duties..

and yes i think 60 quid on 200 quid is a rip off.. i would not have bought these items if i knew what was going to happens.. this is not for a tobbaco product either.. when they thought that it was 100 quid on 200 quid..

being honest doesnt work out in the UK.. it might in the US i dont know..

If you are unlucky enough for your item to be inspected by UK Customs then expect to pay Import Duty and VAT on top of the value. This is calculated on both the purchase price and any delivery costs. Also, in addition to what TropicalBob and trog have written, selection for inspection is a lottery.

Total that must be paid is (Item cost + postage) x (Import Duty Rate %) x (17.5% VAT)

If the item is being delivered via Carrier e.g. TNT ,FEDEX, UPS they are also acting as your agent and then you'll find that the Carrier will present to HMRC for inspection and the appropriate Import Duty duty and VAT charged. If revenue is due on an item your agent will contact you directly for outstanding Duties and Taxes plus their brokerage charge.

Duty is not payable on items below £18 in value (merchandise) or £36 in value (gift) but these figures are the purchase price plus postage, not simply the cost of the goods.

We are lucky in Australia as we can import up to a reasonable amount for private use with NO duty or TAX

From Australian Customs for your info Freddo.

"All goods (except for tobacco products and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if their value is $1,000 or less."

"Note: However, where there are multiple packages to the same addressee in Australia from a single consignor overseas that arrive at about the same time, then the value of all packages will be combined for duty and tax assessment purposes."

My goods arrived with a INSPECTED BY CUSTOMS sticker on the outside of the box and another on the actual carts box AND they even tore open the individual cart and tested the liquid cause there was a sticker on the actual cart and the cap had not been replaced lol. They did all that and sent me the goods so it looks legal to import to Aust.

So if you are importing a large amount just make sure the invoice is under AU$1000. Oh and by the way all freight charges are not included in the value of the goods hint hint.

Well just had nice chap from customs on the phone explaining that my parcel was labelled wrong and should have said something about being cigarettes

Explained my corner to which he gave me an email to explain myself in writing with any relevant documents attached, lets see what happens.

That is typical--the seller will never take the blame. That is why I would never order from outside the EU (and gladly let Simon and Jason deal with it, lol).

Customs aren't even being unreasonable. They will probably accept your explanation and won't charge you duty, but they will charge VAT and the carrier will charge a fee.

Mis-labelling packages does nobody any favours as it's so common. The customs people know all about ebay--they'll want to see your Paypal receipt. This worries me since Paypal USA is apparently all in tatters about any kind of nicotine product.

All this could go either way... But good luck, I hope your stuff gets through. And maybe Ruyan should establish a European/UK agency.

Since the device is pretty much a Personal Vaporizer as others have stated. I'm gonna contact customs and see what the taxs/fees are for importing under that guise.

It appears to fall under Harmonized System # 851679
851679 Vaporizers, hot mist, electric
The kicker is the liquid.... That might cause issues.

The personal use exemption in the US is pretty high. Something like $800. I don't think most of us need to worry on that score.

I've tried telling the sellers to declare it honestly and completely, but they ignore me, so I've had all the usual lies written on my packages. Gift, toy, plastic pipe pieces, picture frame.

The one I didn't understand was why Sedansa sent my Diva with an invoice declaring it to be a Toshiba laptop worth (IIRC) $450 Euros. I figure that had to be a mistake, since I couldn't see the benefit of declaring a HIGHER value.

they think u are importing fags dude.. it could be a genuine if foolish mistake or it could be a back door ban on electric fags even thow legally they aint fags..

Well thats 1-0 to us e-smokers as my parcel has been released with no extra charge due to them making a mistake

Must also add the process of dealing with customs was good and they stated that said product should not be a problem in future.
