Sorry guys for the pic. I will try to take a better one. The discoloration is a circle around the button and closing in progressively. Its like going from gold to dark. Perseas said to use only water. I have sunshine clothes will that help or it will remove the gold?

Sunshine cloths work great on brass but are pretty abrasive (If you look at the cloth after polishing a tube, you will see fairly sizeable metal flakes).

Does your button get really hot during usage? Have you checked for shorts in your atomizer?

Hello my freinds, i think i may migrate over here from the zen thread, i've got people that have been my freinds for over a year PMing me and saying nasty things bc i've complained in a thread that someone started on fb (on behalf of my buddy who i reccommended it to), about the many problems with the zen2, but he wasted $600 on my reccommendation as his first pv, and now im going to have to get on my minilathe this wekend to try and maybe turn out a couple adjustable positive posts for it (if you dont mind me borrowing the concept perseas) I never trashed the guy, I respect mike just as much as I respect perseas, but I just felt that people should know, I mean for example among the other problems, nowhere did it say that for the $600 you only get one switch to use between all 3 mods. But i digress, lol im actually having a good thursday for the first time in weeks, mostly due to the fact that im working from home today.

Todays vape.... my gf might hoard all the rest of the good stuff for herself and not let me use it, but these 3 little guys are all mines  the big difference for me is that I can set all 3 down without locking, sure I lock them when I take them to work with me in my pocket but not having to do that every time I take a vape makes a huge difference for me.

And yes I take 3 setups with me every day, lol... mostly bc theres 3 diy's I cant live without, my orange dreamsicle, lemon lime tropical punch, and my ecto cooler (a clone of the ghostbusters juice box from when we were kids) (I wont mention what their names are... my gf comes up with a funny/crude name for all our juices but im not sure what the rules are in this forum, for example "Exploding .... lab" bc that names not that bad as some of the others... lol)... so it has to be these 3 bc i mixed it that way for the flavors to hold up under low ohm. Also if I let one of my faves out of my sight, she would add it to her collection and I wouldbnever see it again... lol, no joke, i havent vaped my "birthday gift" in months , so I take them with me or hide them when I leave the apt.

But for the first time since I started vaping I think im finally satisfied enough to chill out on the buying for a while. Btw perseas youve really hit it out of the park with the 2.1 and 2.5 upgrades my friend I think you can be proud to say and we can all agree that you're mod is one of the top 3 right now. the new switch is a dream, I meant what I said my freind youve outdone yourself and your mod outshines the caravela... I love to use the dripper when im just chilling out watching tv or not doing anything (video games require a genny though, lol) so the paps is what gets used the most while I'm just relaxing.

Btw those metal trueflow tips with the wide tapered mouth are excellent for dripping, if your going to make tips, i'd love to see one with a hidden tapered bore that doesnt look bored out like some of those pinoy drip tips, bc the big bore ones are amazing for dripping but theres so few decent-looking ones. also the most solid tips I have are my vapelab wave and vapelab brass/ss LE, heiko puts two o rings on which, imo make a huge difference. Whatever you come up with though, perseas I'm sure we will all love it, my gf is kinda crazy about collescting drip tips (even worse than certain mods), theyre like pokémon to her so a gp drip tip will be a must-have.

Persious would be able to say for sure, but from the pic, it looks like a possible defect in the gold plating. Gold is a very stable metal (chemically speaking). Your body chemistry shouldn't have any effect on it.

Problem is I can't remember if it was like that when I first got it. I had it for maybe 2-3 weeks now, used it like 5 times.

Nice setups there! And I agree the 2.5 for me has been super awesome. And with the avalanche of stuff coming in think I am done with purchases as well, outside an 18500 tube.

BTW.... nice stands ya got there. Got a few of those myself.

^ thanks... between the 3 of them I think im finally satisfied, and yeah tf makes great stuff... that one is one that I kinda put together myself but he made a bunch of stands for my gf a while back. You can kinda see one in tha background, thats the juice rack that he made for us, its got a lazy susan base (lol, Lazy Susan... that has always sounded dirty to me) so it spins around, great for dripping and holds a bunch of different flavors.

Sounds like yours came from the same batch as my 1st one... (3rd batch I believe)
I've used mine daily and I accumulated a few hairline scratches but nothing that looks like that.
Any chance you left it standing on something that could be abrasive or something that vibrates (like a speaker)?

I can't imagine body chemistry having an effect but gold is soft and easily worn down.

Kiba!
I imagine you are getting lazy susan confused with porn star Susan :)
oh, and you know I migrated here long ago from the testosterone fueled Z thread(way more chill here and great guys, girls and of course King Perseas!) and spend a bit of time on VW.

my lux button has not held up well at all... i believe the issue with mine is the button does exten beyond the ridges, however not enough to fire the mod. the center is scratched down to the silver. this has been with me daily since the first round but i have been gentle i promise...

good news however... Vape mail today!

IMG_20130613_173504.jpg

got my Astro by Kato and while it looks great and is 23mm (thats why i bought it, for my terminators) the bottom switch/button just plain sucks. I am spoiled by the paps 2.5 switch!
Perseas, whats the word on the 23mm paps X? I need it badly :)

Ok. Now for the comparison between the 'Vela and the Paps 2.5. Both are great. Switch goes to Paps, by far. Performance, I cant tell a difference. Ease of use (mainly because of the 510 center pin) goes to Paps. Engravings, Vela. Build quality, tie. I think it comes down to whether or not you want to wait and pay for the "unicorn" I did and I love it. But there is definitely no loss on quality, performance or any other pertinent factor you can think for vaping. Paps is top notch and I will be buying more in the future. If you throw ease of use into performance, then the Paps wins hands down. I just cant get over how great the switch is. Thanks again Perseas.

Hey Troy, that really sucks man :( I feel for ya.
Ur switch, when u say that "the button extends beyond the ridges", definitely sounds a QC issue... I'm sure Perseas is listening.

'Coz else, that kind of bruises & discolorations are impossible within this short span of it's life. I'm slugging my LUX, always, purely & only, since May-22nd/2013, the time it came in... gone thru 100 tank fills... and there are no blemishes... 'zero'. It shines the same as it was on day one.

It pains to see that picture... I hope it gets sorted out soon. Me praying for ya brother!

Good job there! I don't own a Vela, but understood ur parity assessment to the hilt. How about the length (height differences between both the mods)?

length/height is identical to the naked eye.

EDIT: But, take out the center pin of the paps' cap and replace it with the shorty form the 'Vela, throw a 16340 into the 'Vela tube with the Paps cap and switch, and you have a tiny little mod there. TINY.

Really? I always thought LUX was tad smaller in length.
