When I take the train every morning for work majority of folks are using beats headphones. The majority of people out there don't even realize that they are made by monster. To have the Apple brand alongside beats will be a huge marketing strategy and they'll make their money back and then some real quick.

Actually Monster and Beats broke off their relationship in January of 2012. As for making their money back (reported to be 3.2b) quickly, you're 100% correct there. Beats has over 1b a year in revenue. It's been reported that their 250$ headphones cost as little as 20$ to make.

I have a pair of the 400$ Studio series that in a round about way I paid 20$ for. They're a little bass heavy but I listen to pretty much nothing but Metal and it sounds great on them.

The one thing Beats really deserves a lot of credit for is making big headphones cool again. Before Beats came on the scene you would almost never see anyone outside of their house wearing them , it just wasn't 'cool' to wear giant cans when you were out. Now it's totally acceptable , and even more it's caused a resurgence in the big headphone market which is awesome. The headphones I really want are 800$ http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0031RD3YY?pc_redir=1400378395&robot_redir=1 but for now I'll settle for my Beats.

The only ones I use is my Paps V3 650 lux and Turtleship, but I do.

I sold my beautiful polished brass Turtleship v1 to help fund today's Vapourday purchases. It's a nice mod, but I have no regrets (other than not doubling my GVC order).

But since I don't have the papsX, is it a better or more expensive mod since the switch is actually more expensive than the v3 switch. Just curious because the v3 is just awesome and I'm curious because of the cost difference if the X is better made or what is the cost difference in the 2 switches??

The GP Paps X has extension tubes so you can accommodate all battery sizes for which there are GP Paps v3 tubes (plus the X can do 18650 with a Kick 2) for about the same cost.

I always was more into bigger headphones. Jazz musician, so I'm all over sound and tone. The little buds don't stay in my ear and just don't have the tone I want. The bigger phones always give that. I've never listened to a pair of Beats though so can't comment on that. I'm glad it's more acceptable now because I hated being the only one thinking they were cool lol

I would speculate that a decent portion of that increase has to do with the X switch having CNC engravings, which adds to time of production, which then translates into higher costs. Time is money. It is also the serialized portion of the mod.

I'm so excited right now. Don't know why I took myself back to Vapourart but clicking around- I was able to make another purchase- GP PAPS Tubes (350) LUX Edition version 3.
Now my SS 2.5 650 tube will be lonely again until I buy another top cap & switch.
I am making myself get off the computer so I don't buy anything else......................tonight.

I guess it's about marketing. Beats has a better name in the headphones market than monster does. Even though monster been in the audio industry for years the Beats and Apple brand is what sells. It's a smart move by Apple IMO and that's what Apple is best at, Marketing.

Agreed 100%. But they could snag Monster for 25-30 mil I would guess, a fraction. They could put Monster over the top and add a bit of marketing success. Monster since day one has always been on the verge of Big success but, not yet made move. Love my Beats HP and I am thrilled for Jay Z. Reports say that it will put him over the top of P Diddy in the industry grossing roughly 8-9 million in the deal. This many people would be happy with as Jay Z has helped many along his long ride to success and is good for the entertainment world. Diddy, not so much with no community effort. Sounds wonky but, I always root for those that are productive in this world and help others.
I as always hope if deal completed Apple has much success in the market. It just surprises me.
I've read sad reports of inner city kids killed over Beats headphones.

Free WiFi is easier to get than free water in this world today. And many people say that there is nothing wrong in the world we live.

Can someone help me in my doubt? I bought Paps 2.5 Lux from classifieds and when it came I was so confused because I never saw Lux with black logo engravings. Also, is the switch same as SS 2.5 version? Here's some pics of my Lux. Thanks in advance.

That is a 100% legit Lux v2.5. The black you see in the engraving is just a build up of patina. Hit it with a sunshine clothe and it will be shinning like day one. Or leave it alone and enjoy the patina.

I had ask the below questions earlier in the day when things were really moving on!! I have the Paps v3 from previous vapourday and ordered another v3 switch today, hooray!! But since I don't have the papsX, is it a better or more expensive mod since the switch is actually more expensive than the v3 switch. Also, are the Paps v3 switches that will ship have the minor changes that P spoke of earlier...more rounded edges?

The v3 switches will have the minor changes, the most of them. As for the differences between the 2 mods, for me, X's switch is better, because it can activated using your palm, it has so few parts and the precision machining is unique.

We haven't made it to keep the cost down, but we made the GPin base of the GP Heron from 316 SS to avoid oxidisation.

On another note brother...I'm puzzled why Apple is spending 4+ billion on Dr Dre beats. It is a used product of HTC for 3-4 years. Why not get into cahoots with Monster for a fraction?

I am puzzled too! However Apple is known for its strategic movements, they are not Google or Microsoft to buy just because they have a vague idea about their next move.
