No shipping notification for 16521 yet, but I have no anxiety waiting for it. My pre Vapor Day order was processed and received lightning fast, so I know the good folks at Vapor Art will get them out in record time considering the onslaught of orders they have to process after the big day.

I have order# 16522 and mine just shipped, so yours probably isn't too far behind.... :)

For us, the meaning of the serial numbers is to know when and to whom something was sold. We keep a data base with the serial numbers of the mods we sold from our store and the names of the persons who bought them. We have asked initially from our first reseller in Europe to keep a record too, but after some months he could't keep up with it, so we just know the serial numbers of the batch we send to our resellers.
We have only 2 resellers at the moment who sell worldwide and one reason is to control where our mods can be bought.
Generally we are not strict with our policies, but when a need comes to prove the ownership, this is the only way we accept the legitimate ownership: an email confirmation from the first owner about the second owner and the same to be confirmed for the third owner by the second, etc.

So basically if the first owner doesn't make contact the new owner is screwed?

Not necessarily, but when someone buys a GP mod, he has to agree with our ToS, which refers to our policy regarding support, facilitating the person who is the next owner, by confirming to us the transference of the ownership. The only thing he has to do is to send an email. It is very simple. We have extended our support to second and third owner without having any obligation to do so. Therefore, it is fair for all to ensure that the whole story doesn't include stolen goods.

Thank you for the indepth explaination.

Because of all the GP gear I bought used the last couple of weeks I have been following this topic. I have no idea how many of those sellers would follow through if asked to send VA an email. But I do know at least one of the PAPS was not bought from the original owner of it. Makes me ponder if it's even worth asking all of them to send an email or how many would bother. Seems like being able to just "register" a GP product by it's serial number would be far easier for everybody concerned.

IMO when you buy something used from a stranger you are taking your chances. But I am very happy with what I bought, their condition and the way all of the sellers conducted business. Says alot for owners of GP products in general. I didn't buy GP for the warranty, I bought them for the quality. So I doubt I'll ever need warranty on these anyway.

FWIW... I had very long experience with another company (45+ years) that gave lifetime warranty on their products as well. It included both those products that were serialized and those that were not, AND they extend that same warranty to any subsequent owner without trying to maintain and constanly update a data base of the string of owners. It can become long as well made as their products were, how well they held value and were constantly sold/traded between their dedicated customers or sold to newbies. Their customer service and warranty were considered to be the best in that business. Because of that reputation and always making high quality products, during their run they manufactured millions of items that sold for up to several hundred dollars apiece. Unfortunatly they all got old like I did and eventually wanted to retire or died, so the company was sold to a much larger very well known company who wanted their manufacturing method and equipment. The CS all but ended, then production, and most of us who had supported them for decades moved on. I was one of their best customers worldwide in terms of the numbers of their items owned, public support, and was friends with the powers to be there all those decades. I still miss them.

Pay attention to where you 're buying your AW batteries please.

In the last couple of days I have been on a few sites (wholesale) that offered AW batteries below wholesale costs. Attached is a correspondence with the man himself Wan Hoi, known to us as Andrew Wan. Fellow vapers need to realize that quality is expensive. AW batteries are expensive due to the rigorous QA & QT that goes into the production of each cell, not dissimilar to the QA & QT demanded by vapers wrt liquids. This QA & QT demanded by the industry (not ours) since AW batteries originated from the flashlight industry, amongst others. E-cigarettes only represent a fraction of the total AW market.

Why is this important? With all the sub-ohm vapers out there, it is of paramount importance that you use a cell that can withstand the abuse of sub-ohm vaping and on one that you can count on to vape reasonably safe, because the practice of sub-ohm vaping is only marginally safe.

Our discussion...

<<Hi Rick,

Please note counterfeit AW batteries with hologram label have been found circulating in the market now. Details
shown in the attached pictures.
Best Regards,
Andrew Wan
Owner / Founder of AW Batteries ( Est.2005 )>>

Andrew,

Thanks for the heads up good buddy. I was wondering about that especially since Heaven Gifts has the 18650 for sale on their site and I doubt that you are supplying them.

Rick

<<Rick,

They are fakes. I have not supplied anything to them.

I am the owner/Founder of AW Batteries. I have no distribution channel in mainland China - meaning
I don't supply to any business or individuals in China. Wholesale orders are shipped from my
office location in Hong Kong.

Andrew>>

AW batteries are only sold to reputable dealers, therefore if the deal is to good to be true, they are fakes. These batteries sell at 50-60% below wholesale and a similar price is reflected on the retail value.

Yeah, this is becoming a real problem. I recently had to toss 15 of my AW's as I found out that they were ALL fakes....I bought them on eBay before I realized how much of an epidemic this is...

I then reordered some from RTD Vapor - a known legit AW supplier....but be careful guys....I would be leery of buying any AW's off of ebay or even amazon (if they have them).....

Thanks for the warning, Perseas!!

Un freakin believable. Copy of batteries.
I make my AW purchase from RTD myself. I've also put in a small order of purple efest batts to try.

Clones are an epidemic that extend outside the vaping world. And the GMO is proof. When we can "clone" meats, we've really reached a problem.

Need some advise as a Heron noob on the used one I just got... a fairly early one I'd guess by the serial number. It only had traces of liquid on the deck, but the the GPin base on the inside under the deck where it's base rides on the positive pole had hard corrosion on it. That cleaned up with ISO, elbow grease with an eraser.

For want of a better name for it... I can't get the tank ring to unscrew off the deck, it's frozen solid. Maybe also corroded? Tried a couple of those tight jar lid rubber sheets to get a better purchase on it, but it still won't budge. I could try removing the o-rings, poles, insulator and put in my UC (that also has a heater) and run if for however many minutes to see if that loosens things up. Anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks.

(not pics of mine obviously)

Thanks for the idea Yankee... can try. Cold instead of heat. With the other I found corrosion came to mind.

The jar sheets I have are highly textured rubber, do not damage and do not slip... it's just so tight it won't budge even with them.

EDIT:
Put my eyes on and found that the positive pole is staked from the bottom... the one I'd take out because of the insulator. But without going to my storage facility and digging for tools I haven't used for years, have no idea where they are I'm wondering if the insulator can take either cold or heat and if so which one.

I always get a better grip with medical gloves. I consider them as essential vape gear. :)
