Leave the top insulator in place from the v2 - it's already compressed - this will allow you to catch the thread on the v3 post.

Exactly as you said. Though there's a ridge on the positive post which wouldn't go through the old insulator - so I reused the bottom one instead!
Still - your advice worked... Bingo!

The 'communication' thing only works for me, in person. When I was young, one of my friends used to take me to the track. He was an old 'pro'. But, he placed his bets on what I said.
