I've found that just because you broke in one section nicely, it doesn't mean that another section will fit the exact way. I got everything together in 500 mode and can't get it right in 650, yet so I'll have to work those as well. I just hope I don't remove do much material to get both sections working that they get wobbly.

So far, a soak in some chilled water and a sharp rap against the table (in a cloth so as not to mar the finish) has gotten a little movement back each time. Rinse and repeat until you can work the part out...

Mine needs some more 'working'. Not feeling well, so I took a break. Maybe, later today.

I'll not give up, but they are really stuck together. I'll try the chilled water/rap method and see if there's any movement.

Wednesday and Thursday, my Ti's threads were smooth as butter. Last night, I took the Heron off of it and tried to put the top cap on. It would only go on about half way before binding.

Well, having followed this thread, I had read of others having binding issues as well. So, I spent about 2 hours at the sink working all the threads on the tubes. Got them all working pretty smoothly, so gave them a final brush with the tooth brush, dried everything thoroughly, and put it back together in 650 mode. All was well.

Today, I wanted to change to 500 mode. I cannot get the tubes apart. I have tried everything that has been suggested in this thread. I've managed to get them to loosen about 2 turns but that's as far as I can get them to move. I cannot get them to tighten up either. I don't have a vice or soft jawed pliers. I wouldn't want to put it in a vice though, even if I did have one.

I am at a total loss here. I don't know what else to try.

Actually, the manufacturing of titanium threads can be approached either with low tolerance or with high tolerance regarding the M21x1 type of threading. The second approach is easy, but the result is loss of conductivity and poor sense of threading. We chose the first method, knowing that the threading when it is new needs to "break" thru use till it takes its final shape, but the final result will be permanent.

For those who haven't read the thread, I have never suggested the use of vice or any pliers.

At least 2 hours spent turning under water and she's threading pretty smooth.
I'm sure this will work out its just going to take some patience and work to get them broken in.
I know earlier I was scared to death that I'd screwed up and trashed $500 worth of mod by how bad it was stuck.
Didn't want to bang it on a table and now have 4 blisters from trying to twist under water with dish washing gloves on. Banging it on the table is what finally worked.
It's gonna take work but the threads will find their groove and even get better over time I think.

I know a lot of people who bought many mods and they didn't use them or even ignored what they bought, but this is another story and it hasn't happened with our products as far as I know.

This is a friendly place where we speak about everything, except clones and of course issues may occur and different solutions are offered. I assure you that there is no reason to feel nervous or scared

I love my heels! Been wearing very high heels, since I was a teen. When I had my stroke, my goal, was to get back in my heels. I did it! All of my heels are 6" and greater. With the exception of my hiking/motorcycle chunky heels. I think they are 5".

The tip is from Super-T.

As Perseas mentions breaking in the tubes under water is a great method.
Short on water this season, last night I sat with the Titanium X in my lap with a dry tooth brush. I carefully worked the threads together never pushing the limit of getting them stuck and then I would brush the Titanium threads out on both male and female connections and start gain. I also had a damp cotton rag to wipe the threads every few minutes.
Quickly the squeaks softened and they seemed to meld together in perfect harmony. All threads mate in every connection possible as they were meant to be

I have no doubt, we will all get our Tis 'broken in'. I am familiar with titanium, and knew of the possible 'issue' prior to the purchase.

And, no, you have never suggested using a vice or pliers and I never meant to imply that you had. As I said, even if I had them available, I wouldn't use them for fear of damaging the tubes.

Thanks perseas. Your presence on the board and the way you have handled customer service issues was the reason I plunked down the coin for this mod. I have a ss paps x 1.5 and really like it also.
