The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird is one of the most cherished books in my library and although 30 years have passed from the first time I read it, this book is unsurpassed even at the 100th time I read it. Whoever isn't aware of its content, I encourage him to read it ASAP! The authors have written other books and a documentary has been made as well, many other people have written about this matter, but this book is the ultimate reference, period.

The continuously increasing number of varied induced apathy syndromes, reminds me of the movie Idiocracy which illustrated with tragicomical precision what is going to happen, if Monsanto prevails. But they won't!

After the initial development of permaculture project in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century and its abandonment due to Communism, even Stalin during the WWII pressed by the need of survival, permitted a small plot of land, for those they served in the military, to be cultivated and this action saved millions of lives. Even today, many Russians living in Mosche, have a small vegetable garden in the countryside of about 700 square metres where they spend their weekends.

The Monsanto sponsored and inspired CODEX ALIMENTARIUS wants to stop any such movement in USA and Europe. Fortunately in India, people have been ...... off with Monsanto practises, while in US mostly and less in Europe, people have started to awaken. Australia is a pioneer in the resurrection and evolution of permaculture from the '70s and the situation nowadays in Russia goes against any GMO product and free land, exempted from taxes and heritable to the Russian citizens under a family domain legislation is in ongoing discussions the last 4 years in Duma.

Theses are good news for the future, the essence of any motherland is the soil, we must not poison our mother, no politician has the right to sell or rent her to anyone. We are so blinded by lies that we discuss fundamental truths of life like they are negotiable. They aren't!

So well worded and definitely noted. It saddens me that society has become more of a convenience factor. There are places that have 3 McDonalds on the same street within one mile of each other. Aside from the obvious good choice, have we become so dependent on fast food that we really must build them so close together for convenience?

The boom of needing to raise families with dual income jobs unfortunately started to lead to a path of fast and convenience. All while taking our futures nourishment away from our youth. Our children have no concept for the most part of good nutrition. Our government is teaching them about the food groups in the schools, while selecting their lunch menus.

The parents used to guide and teach bybeay of daily living. It wasnt convenient, and ut wasnt fast. It was the way for them growing up. I remember these days as my parents grew up on a farm themselves. I also admit that I lived a life of convenience for a while.

It feels good to go back to the roots...figuratively and literally.

Not only do the children have a poor understanding of nutrition, but some think things like seedless grapes, seedless cucumbers, etc are natural! These are very interesting times we are living in.

What's going on with my Heron?
Just got my first Heron - after using the fantastic Spheroid for a few months, I thought this'll be pretty straightforward. Well, a couple of issues...
Firstly I can't get a micro-coil with cotton (and the topper) to work at all. Must be getting massive short somewhere as the whole kit gets too hot.
Secondly using the 510 adapter. I have it working, but cannot adjust the air flow ring! I'm assuming the 510 base has to be screwed on pretty tight - and then the positive pin screwed in to its approximate position? But because the base is fitted tight - the air flow ring will not move!
Oh - third problem. Lots of gurgling when taking a pull... Giving it a quick upside-down shake clears the mouthpiece (and whatever might have condensed in the tube of the bell), but a couple of minutes later it's gurgling again...
Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong on any of the above would be well received...
Note: The Spheroid is still soldiering on. So it Heron vs. me issue. Right now, the Heron has me flummoxed...

Regarding the short: make sure your coil is not touching the cotton topper. The clearance is kinda low...Also make sure that your terminal screws are not making contact with the topper (an issue I ran into)....I doubt that's the case (more likely the coil), but it's worth checking....what gauge Kanthal are you using?

The gurgling: make sure that your fluff is cleared away from the bottom of the bell. you want a nice tight seal in between the red O-Ring on the top of the topper and the bell, otherwise juice will find its way up into the air channel if there are small pieces of fluff in the way....

These are just small things that I myself have run into and may not be the root causes of your issues.....Hopefully the shorting issue is just your coil being too high!! :)

Just thought I'd share some things I noticed with mine...you'll get there buddy!! We'll help you! :)

Thanks for this. I did think of the coil might be too high - so sat it quite low between the posts - so it's not that. The terminal screws? Now there's a thought! That I hadn't thought of! Though I imagine that that spacing would have been thought of in the design stage? That said - I was using .25mm Kanthal. No idea what gauge that might be... But yes - this could be pushing up the bolts a little too much for what must be tiny tolerances... I might set about those little buggers with my Dremel to remove that as a possibility...
The gurgling was with silica and no topper - as the topper was giving me grief, so I reverted to tried and trusted...
Thanks for you thoughts - the shorting especially has given me something to try...

Hey Bud,

Gotcha. So the gurgling persists without the topper. then in that case, you'll want to make sure that your fluff is not too tight/loose. If it's too tight (or too loose), then it won't absorb the juice properly, and it could find its way down into the airhole.....Figuring out how much fluff to use can be tricky, as you have to take into account your PG/VG ratio of your juice...I have been using 2 - 2.5" of fluff with good results as of late...

So the Heron is NOT shorting without the topper and IS with the topper? then yeah, I would look for little scorch marks on the bottom of the topper where the terminal screws may have been bumping it.....Hopefully that's not the case.....I usually make my coil so that it's about even with the top of the terminal screws (maybe a bit higher but not much)....

I am still learning how to set up my Herons too, so take what I say with a grain of salt....I am certainly not the expert here!! :p

Hope this helps!! :)

Well, I'm using 26g kanthol and the screws aren't too high. I'm not sure about .25mm kanthol, but I saw somewhere that it is equivalent to 30g, so it doesn't sound thick enough to push those screws up and cause a short. However, when I was first setting my heron up it drove me nuts for a little while. I took a look at a pictorial in the main section and it helped me a lot. You can make adjustments to your preference of course, but the point is I thought it was a great starting point. Maybe you will too... :)

My first GVC was just delivered! I don't know, how some of you knew when your GVC would arrive. I had no tracking, after it hit New York. I forgot how small a 100 ml bottle is. I normally get 500 ml bottles. I have to decide if I am going to dedicate a KFL, or drag out a dripper. My coils are lower ohms, so I guess I need to wrap a coil. I meant to have one ready and waiting. But....

I hope everyone is having a great day! :)

I really like GVC but for me it's a nice evening vape...a little too sweet(?) for an all day vape..

I put a 1.10 ohm coil on my old Helios RDA. That wasn't easy on a bad hand day! This is my first real attempt at a sweet juice. I started my vaping life with Atomic Cinnamon. I loved that! I loved that! I loved that! For me, it was the perfect juice to start with! Not sure the 'vaping thing' would have worked without it. But, I figured it was a bit harsh for a lifetime juice. So, I switched to coffee. Been using coffee ever since.

I'm going to vape a bit.. I'll let you guys know.. :)

Now, I remember why I don't use the Helios RDA. I hate it! :) But, I got to taste the GVC at 1.10 ohms.

Being a bad hand day, I'm not wrapping another coil. So, I just loaded a KFL, previously wrapped @.63 ohms. Hmm.. Not bad.. I will vape a while.. :)

BTW: I purchased the 'All VG'. The GVC is way thinner than my normal 'All VG'.
