Man, preparing for a kids party is so exhausting. My wife promised me it was going to smaller this year. Even though we have about half the guests from last year there is still the same amount of prep work involved. Last year we had about 200 people show up to her 1st bday party. That was a crazy time but sooo much fun. Well off to bed to get rest for another crazy weekend. Good night my GP fam. Sweet dreams, I know there will be a Ti X in mine. [emoji14]

Spydro that is the coolest shot. Can totally see those rings.

Not me, my son. Back in early May he got a new Meade StarNavigator 90mm Refractor w/GOTO. It's pretty kewl. You set it up, it calibrates to it's GPS coordinates and the time, then you can punch in the code for something like 30,000 targets and it will track to the one you entered automatically. Here's another he took of Mars the next night. Can also see one of it's moons, Phobos or Deimos.

Awesome picture Spydro! I envy the clear sky and lack of light pollution that you must get in the desert (at least when not facing the Las Vegas strip). I have a 5 inch Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope but I have poor observing conditions where I live and I haven't used it in years. I have a limited view of the night sky from my backyard, the lights from Chicago cloud the sky to the south, I freeze my .... off in the winter, and I get eaten alive by mosquitoes in the summer. My neighbors sometimes leave their lights on in their backyards at night and every now and then one of them installs a new lamp post in front of their house, further contributing to light pollution.

When I did use my telescope I enjoyed looking at planets and splitting stars. This isn't my picture (I never got into the photography with a CCD camera and software stacking), but I love the juxtaposition of the blue and yellow stars of Albireo - it was always my favorite to look at:

Let me know if you guys find any issues. This was my first attempt at Google Forms.

A big thanks for the inspiration goes out to Q!

That's so great of you to create these forms landman, thank you! There's one small problem that I found with the GP Paps X LUX submission form: it requires a four digit serial number but the X LUX only has three digit serial numbers.

Was happy to do it! ;)

I don't have a Lux X; didn't realize it had 3 digit numbers. Fixed. :)

I'll let him know about Albiero so he can look for it, thanks.

His home is actually in Las Vegas, and not that far from The Strip. From his back yard he can only view NE-E-SE, so over the city of LV and Henderson, IOW looking over The Strip mostly.

I've never used Goggle Forms, but the form is not plugging the data in correlated to the serial number, it is mixing the data up. In time you won't be able to tell who's data is who's. IE mine...

I love those astral shots. I wish I had the money and time to get a good telescope and most of all time to take a course on how to use it properly. Lots of people get a good telescope, spend a serious amount of money and then are clueless on how to use it. I know its not as simple as setting it up and just pointing it up. You have to learn where, what time etc. Someday :)

That's just the summary, and you're right, it's useless. Click on the separate "list" link above. ;)

My father gave me his when I started showing an interest, so the price was good. It's a "Go To" telescope that you can use to automatically go to specific sights and move manually with a controller. The only trick with these are getting them polar aligned (directly pointing at a pole star, e.g., the North Star in our hemisphere). The night sky moves (rather, we move) so you won't be able to look at an object without it quickly moving from your view unless you get one with a motor and get it set up properly (which isn't hard). Newer ones can even align themselves!

Thanks, Firestorm, thats good to know about the polar alignment and that one can get the motorized ones. I know there are some that you input certain information to what you want to look at and then it aligns itself to follow that particular astral body, star, planet etc. There is also an online astronomy club where you pay a relatively small monthly fee and they allow you to "use" or reserve "time" with their large telescopes, linked to your computer and you can look at what you want or you can "look in " on others viewings.

Grats to everyone that got their Ti X!

I am STILL sitting at work from yesterday... lol. Been a long one and still have a ways to go. Yeehaw! Go go crappy Cisco code!! Upgrading Call Managers takes FOREVER (not even including all of the lockups and glitches lol). Oh well... Bills need to get paid and I have my X and Heron here keeping me company.

Thanks landman :)

The X-lux form now accepts three digit numbers, but still says "Please use four digit numbers. Eg: 0123". If you actually type in 4 digits in the format requested, it tells you to please enter a valid 4 digit number. It's only a matter of the wording - "4" just needs to be changed to "3". The form itself worked fine once I typed in 3 digits.
