@h00ligan: glad things are moving along. GP customer service is some of the best in the biz!

If anyone is up for some experimentation I could use some feedback that confirms/refutes my findings now that I've got my build running smoothly.

So, I've been going back to my single wick build after vaping my brains out for the past month with the Heron v2. This seems to wick perfectly fine but both helps keep any minor flooding in check and seems to extend the time between wick changes.

the next time I rewick, I'm going to make the tail end of the wick longer and route it behind the posts/coil towards the far end of the pic.

Also, I'd really love it if the GP folk came out with an elegant solution for this type of clip accessory:

2d5fd03acb89e7eaa0c6d9490a95b4e8.jpg

Ideally, the tip of the clip could be non-marring and be used in multiple configurations since the Paps/Piccolo/Spheroid/Heron uses a uniform tube configuration. Maybe it could be inserted between the tube and bell for upright carrying, between the top cap and tube, or between the switch and tube for inverted carry (which would be my preference).

Carrying mods in pocket can be so frustrating as they move around in both jeans/slacks/suits. As much as I love my GP single holster I don't actually wear it on my belt and I'd love to have a GP clip for my GP gear.

I realize that the challenge would be making it work seamlessly with the tight tolerances, in both form and function, that GP products have. I also realize that I do not have a nose for marketing but I do know what works for me and would love something like this.

Greetings GP family! Hope this new year finds everyone doing well.
I recently received 3 Spheroids and need a bit of guidance. 2 have the threaded bellcap with thumb screws and 1 has the press-fit bellcap. If I were to need spares, which version are they? I suppose I need to post pictures when I get home.
Also, if these are version 2 (which I believe they are), will the version 3 parts work (press fit cap and v3 deck)?
This is what I love about GP. They may improve the user experience but the quality and performance are unmatched. Even between the iterations of Spheroid I find no other atomizer can deliver the complexity of my DIY juices.
I think the magic is in the fluff! :)

BTW - on the question about fluff - I have used the same fluff for over 4 months with a fairly dark DIY tobacco juice and its still performing well. I leave it twisted around the bell and gently rinse then Pat excess water and let it air dry.

Hello my dear lady :)

The two Spheroids with the thumb screws can be updated with the GP Spheroid Replacement Kit version 2.5
The replacement kit v3 is only for Spheroid v3. The Spheroid base v3 is compatible with the tubes of the previous versions.
And yes, the magic is the fluff indeed!

It's noted for further brainstorming, thank you!

I'd be a fan of that and as I mentioned vis email id love to have some Choices of finished for afc ring. I believe @qorax wanted that too. Swap between brushed , polished, brass, silver, etc. especially if there could be some interesting textured designs on the afc - like a 3D Touch sort of design on the afc. Couldn't have the foggiest how to do it but I'm sure he experts there could Come up With something neat

Vapourart made an aluminum bronze AFC ring for the Heron v1/1.5, but unfortunately the AFC slot doesn't align with the hole on the Heron v2 base (yeah, I tried it). I like the Heron v1/1.5 aluminum bronze AFC ring, but unfortunately the patinas on the ring and my LUX tubes rarely match.

We tend to avoid cosmetic designs that would make the atty looking somewhat "busy". A Lux AFC ring could be an option, if there is enough demand to justify a limited production run. Thank you for the idea though!

Patina develops quicker by the touch, so it is normal to be uneven with the ring, we tend to touch it less than the tube. The new AFC ring and the new slot have different dimensions from v1 and v1.5.

Yah indefinitely get it. The less is more theory is excellent. And I wouldn't want to change that. I wasn't thinking some crazy Aztec touch logo or something. I was thinking more like concentric rings in varying depth

I'd like a lux afc ring. Otherwise just available afc in the spare parts section So We can use the polishing tool with reckless abandon On a secondary part so As not to muck about with the original Brush pattern that matches. I guess the next version of the piccoloid will have the matching brush switch like the heron maybe? Rather than polished? Or did it have that and his is the evolution? Sorry I'm not familiar with much GP history despite reading the evolution parts I'm not much for retention right now :)

The finish of the Piccolo switch is polished by necessity, for symmetry with the top cap and for convenience. Our hand brushed finish cannot be applied on the switch without deforming slightly the radius of the ring's bottom edge, which would result in a pointy sense of touch during the handling of the button. A small mod has many manufacturing difficulties due to its size. All the versions of the Piccolo have been manufactured in Athens, by the way :)

Oh wow. Ok. Thank you! I don't have the top cap on mine - so for the piccoloid that's why if originally mentioned I think the polished afc would be very nice - maybe not as much on the heron as it has that super uniform look.

Thank you so much! I assume the one with the screws I have is the 2.5 kit as the 510 pin is v2 - meaning it is not adjustable - just a flat connection. They work beautifully so no need to change anything yet but I love keeping spares and wanted to get the correct ones :)

Also, seems the airflow is not adjustable or at least a bit tighter in the v2 - which is wonderful as I love a tight draw - just making sure I didn't miss anything.

Guilty pleasure pic!

The bell is attached to the top cap. Its all one piece :)

Base, Tube, top cap - 3 pieces.

Oh sorry - answer to your question - wrap the fluff around the bell part - fro the bottom of the top cap inside to the tip of the bell...that's how I do it. Loose but not falling off and a couple of wraps should do it :)

Agreed, a polished afc ring looks nice with the polished button on the picccoloid. I finished my last piccoloid in this manner and it was a looker!

I bet! I'll do it. But only when I can get another afc. Especially right now with my spine stuff I don't trust me.

Hello family!! First of all, I have several Herons and Spheroids and I must say they are very easy to build and allows for much error in building as I am still no pro like Q and others!!
I have a proper cleaning question....I took apart a couple of my Paps v3 mods that still have the copper Gpin and wow were they dirty....stained and I took several Q tips dabbed in alcohol and cleaned as much as I can. Is there a technique to clean the top cap when you take apart the pins, spring, etc. to get it like new again. I tend to clean the switches much better than the top caps!! My Paps with silver pins, etc. were no way as bad as the couple of copper ones. The 510 pin at the top and Gpin are so small to hold that scrubbing them is tough!! Will soaking in alcohol or "cheap" vodka help with removing the tarnish--stains that I have? Better yet, If Q would do a video on how he thoroughly cleans his GP mods--switches and top caps would be excellent!! Any input welcomed as far as what to use, soak, etc.!!
Thanks
P.S. If I would clean more often that would help too....I know!!

I find that a long soaking in an acidic tomato product like ketchup or hot sauce really helps to clean the parts of the brass GPin. I've used Taco Bell hot sauce packets when at work, but I typically make a mixture of ketchup with a bit of vinegar and let the parts soak for like an hour. I've cleaned the individual parts with a sunshine cloth and it's tedious and painful to polish the smaller parts and ridges. I do prefer the much lower maintenance of a plated GPin.
