Maggots can't be babies... they have no eyes or feet. And they can't taste TOOo bad... several cultures eat worms:).

You'll starve, I'm having eggs. A little overdeveloped, perhaps... I like eggs and I like duck, so I think I could get used to eating them when they aren't quite either.

My addition to the disgusting food list - Hákarl. Even Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsey agree it's vile. I'm generally an adventurous eater, but I'll take a pass on this.

That doesn't seem like such a terrible food item, shark ... but since it's prepared rotted, it probably tastes pretty bad:).

I remember Andrew Zimmern from Bizzare foods trying it. That guy is the original food adventurer. But even he has one or two things he won't eat. Durian being one of them, for the texture if I remember correctly..

Interesting... never heard of Kiviak before... that is ... uh... wow... yuck. Like eating hundreds of baluk at once, marinated in Hakari... :blink:

Surstromming doesn't sound quite so gross til you read about the smell... but I love fish sauce, and the process sounds similar...

Such a gastronomical education I'm getting here! LOL! From eweeuuu to peewwwuuuu...

Exactly!! I'm of Japanese descent so I grew up eating sushi and other kind of "exotic" Japanese foods. Where I live, it's a given that everyone knows how to use chopsticks.

I believe she was expressing the oxymoronic idea of tempura sushi. And her remark about a caterpillar roll was a continuation of my comment about the Westernization of sushi. We have something here called a Moondog roll that would confound a trained sushi chef.
