I havent quit vaping yet but I am well on my way.

I started vaping 36 mg back in 2009 and made the same mistake I see so many other vapers make.....and that is rushing to quit vaping.

I smoked 2 packs a day for 25 years before vaping afforded me a better alternative to quit smoking.

To think that I could then quit vaping in a couple of months was incredibly unrealistic and naive. I didnt give my body enough time to adjust and I went back to smoking.

Fast forward a couple of years later, I decide that Im going to drop 6 mg every 6-12 months....basically whenever my body tells me Im ready.

Since that time Ive dropped from 36 mg all way down to 3 and havent had a single cigarette in the interim.

In another month or two im going down to 1.5mg and will likely stay there for at least 6 months before dropping to 0 nic.

At that point Im unsure if I will continue vaping 0mg nic past the 6-12 month mark or if I will quit vaping altogether.

Either way I will be completely nicotine and cigarette free.

And thats something to be incredibly proud of IMO

I tootle-puff and one of the reasons why is that I have had my blood profiles taken the entire time I've been vaping, and still struggle with the dehydration, which shows up on every one as a "flag" from the lab. (We compared to the years before that, which were all normal.) I hydrate twice as much as I used to, but it doesn't seem to matter. So, I can understand about the dryness for sure. :) We don't know the long term affects of on-going dehydration to the cells and body but not everyone seems to be bothered by this. It is a matter of one's particular metabolism. I have worked on lowering my nicotine very slowly to 0%-3% in an effort to have a quit date in mind, just because I seem to be particularly plagued by the dryness thing.

Not everything works the same for *everybody*. :)

I would never bad mouth vaping since dryness is still better than smoking cigs!

What actually causes the dehydration? The actual vapour or the nicotine?

I think eventually I will want to quit vaping, but right now all I want is to keep vaping enjoyable so I don't feel the need to smoke. I use 3mg nic in my subohm device and 12mg in my tootle puff device (yes I do both depending on time of day and where I am) I will continue to cut down the nic and eventually go nic free. Once I'm there I'll decide how/if I want to keep vaping, but that is likely we'll over a year down the road so I'm a vaper for now.

I occasionally think about quitting vaping, but then just forget about it.
since I got an iSub tank last week, I actually vape less. I no longer "suckle" all day. I just do the odd big drag and I am good for a while . I go through less juice now than before (the iSub Tank doesn't seem to be using a lot of juice full stop?). I also get breathing issues when I vape excessively. But way different from smoking. It's more like too much moisture in the lungs and goes away if I stop vaping for an hour.
Dehydration, yes. A bit. I do drink more water now than I used to and feel much better for it. But if you increase your water intake, make sure you increase your potassium intake as well! Otherwise symptoms are dry mouth and hart problems....

Good luck with your quitting. At least you are already off the stinkies, so it will only be as hard as stopping to drink coffee (or eating chocolate). More of a habit issue than an addiction issue now.

I have found that I don't "CRAVE" a vape in the morning or any other time of day like I use to with a ciggy. I would almost trip over my own feet to light that first smoke in the morning. Now some morning I can get half a coffee down before I even think about having a vape. Get into the car, going to the store isn't a issue if I forgot my vape..but with cigs I almost had a panic attack if I forgot my smokes. I will eventually overcome my nic addiction but with great DIY juices and top notch delivery systems why would I want to give all that up.;)
