25 years, 3 packs a day. Poof....up in smoke! I hang around people that smoke but have found myself avoiding them lately.
It's bothersome to smell it at this point.

Always have 2 PVs 5 ml juice, set of extra batts and a backup atty. One has a PT for the car. I drip and have it down to a science to get consistent hits.....I mean what's to miss?

well, i quit smoking and started vaping on dec 23, 2009. At the end of July 2010, we were told my father in law died and we had to go to his state to take care of his possessions and make funeral arrangements. started back smoking the day we were informed and didn't quit again until yesterday. was afraid vaping wasn't going to cut it this time, but so far we've handled it okay. problem for both of us is that we enjoy smoking, but hate the health consequences. Cutting back never worked for either of us, the more we'd try, the more we'd wind up smoking. It is pretty much all or nothing. Hopefully we will both stick with vaping this time ~ and we'd even like to get off that too at some point.

Almost 2 weeks for me, and there's absolutely no way in hell after vaping for 2 weeks I'd ever consider smoking a real cigarette. Don't know if the e-cig is a stepping stone to quitting entirely, but I don't see myself quitting the e-cig. It's something that I recommend to everyone I know who smokes, and it was recommended to me by someone else my age who spent 10 years smoking marlboro reds and quit with the Blu of all things. I would have smoked analog cigs forever if the e-cigs hadn't come along. Now I can very easily imagine never smoking another "real" cigarette, and I can't imagine why I'd want one.

Smoked 1.5-2 packs a day for 20+ years. Started doing this Ecig thing on a Friday in NOV 2010. By the following Tuesday I was off of Cigs. 4 days to be smoke free... And the FDA wants to Ban it. What a bunch of F#$K$! I HATE THE FDA! I saved my own life and they want to stop others from doing the same cause they aren't getting their Kick Backs - AKA - TAX!

Just wondering how many people have completely quit smoking, for how long, and how they feel in comparison.
I have smoked for about 12 years and have cut back from a pack a day to 8 cigs a day, so i think with the ecig I can stop completely, but my husband smokes alot and has a really bad smoker's cough, so I'm hoping if he can quit on these.

Quit analog on 9/30/1990 using the patch. Pain. lots of pain. Started back up due to stress around 01/2010. Quit analogs with a 510 sometime mid Dec. 2010. Can't tell you the exact day cause the transition was painless. Started vaping at 30mg/ml. Now I'm at 24mg/ml for most of the day dropping down to 12mg/ml in the evening.

Funny how different people's experiences are -- from struggles to stay on the pv and off the cigarettes to quit in one day and never wanted another one.

I smoked for over 50 years. I got an e-cigarette in Jan. 2009 to use whenever I had some reason not to smoke, like not wanting to have the car all smoky when I was going to pick up grandkids. I didn't have any health problems and wasn't interested in quitting.

Then one afternoon in August 2010 I was running low on cigarettes and decided to use the pv to try to stretch them out until the next day. That was it -- I've still got those six cigarettes in a drawer somewhere. I never had to use any will power (good thing; I don't have any), and very soon the thought of lighting up and inhaling the smoke became just repellent.

I am so grateful that I could stop smoking without giving up nicotine, which I feel has more benefits than drawbacks, especially for someone whose brain got 15-20 hits a day for five decades.

Now trying to find some will power to stop buying stuff after every visit to the forum!

I started vaping on Dec/31/2010 coincidently (it wasn't a New Years resolution or anything).

The transition was easy with almost no analog cravings.

50 days later, a week ago, I gave up the vaping cold turkey. Lemme tell you, it's NOTHING like quitting analogs cold turkey, but much, much, much easier. Nicotine alone feels about 1/5 as addictive as analog smoke. I only get a nicotine craving after dinner, which is easy to quelch with some good ol' television escapism.

I feel great without the nicotine, too. My resting heartrate has dropped from ~80 BPM to ~60, which for a hypochondriac like me is a beautiful thing.

I'm proud of myself. E-cigs to me are a godsend. I've passed my RIVA onto my dad and hopefully he loves it as much as I did.

Just like my signature says. I added it after I quit analogs and won't ever go back. I was practicing a song today (singing). about a month plus ago I tried and couldn't hit the notes without pain. I ran through it 5 times in a row and felt great... we are jamming tomorrow and I have sent out the video and chord progression to the guys so we can play it tomorrow.... my ultimate goal is to be able to sing journey again, but it's been about 20yrs since I did that. I try and getting closer. some of that stuff is high haha. This has not only helped me quit smoking but has made me look at excersise as well, so double benefits. I feel the work outs are actually giving me attainable results.

I know it's not just me. Other people have noticed changes in me as well. I don't stink like an ashtray anymore. My garage smells better (my smoking pit, I still vape out here mostly but I also vape in the house... I got you were puffing chocolate last night weren't you haha), I don't cough and hack stuff up anymore... I still have trouble drinking water and am actually drinking more coffee than before. I try to consciously avoid the coffee now but it's hard when you are always thirsty... and I have a ravenous appetite at night that has taken on a violent fervor... I got really sick from detailing a moldy van. That made me look at ways of getting healthy when I found this. I was so sick I lost 40 lbs that week. I am sure I have gained that back and I don't gain weight easy

Starting to vape...instead of smoking...is a Life-changing event...one I do not regret in the least. Once I found ECF, and had help from the community here on the pros and cons of different methods, I no longer had to rely on 'bogus' information, and subject myself to all the 'huckster con-artist' companies out there, preying upon the uninformed. Replacing smoking with vaping seems so far to have measurable positive health benefits. However, in my own case, I don't want vaping to overwhelm my life either. Too much of anything could be harmful. My own personal goal was/is to stop smoking tobacco, then gradually decrease my nicotine intake levels from vaping, and eventually step away from all nicotine.

Honestly, good for you.

ALL I know is I ALSO KNEW I would never smoke again in my first few weeks of vaping but now I am and so is one of my mates.

You may well be right though, I'm not saying you will smoke ever again., don't get me wrong, just being logical by saying if we did a statistical analasys of how good a tool vaping is for quitting and asked newbs, I don't think it would be a viable study.

I think you're wrong about newbies; I think they are indeed a reliable cohort. I smoked heavily for over 37 years and tried all the usual ways to quit, including laser therapy. Nothing worked for long. More importantly, I was never convinced that they would work. With e-cigs, it was a completely different scenario. I knew right away, in my first vaping session, that they would work for me. It was such an enormous relief to have that confidence. Now it's over 16 months later and I was right: it worked. I haven't smoked since October 16, 2009.

Newbies, trust your [collective] gut. E-cigs are a freaking miracle. If you "know" that they will work, you will not smoke again.

I've been "fooling" around with vaping for about a year and still smoking. Sometimes I could go for a few hours or so without an analog, then I'd smoke again. Finally, about two months ago I stocked up on my supplies, batteries, attys, etc. and decided to give it a real try without cigarettes. It is really going well and I'm so surprised! I use different levels of nicotine, from zero to 26 mg and I use Nicorette gum, sometimes even just a half. For me, this is not an all or nothing journey, at least at this point. If I do break down and have a cigarette, (which I have done) I'm not going to kill myself over it. When I find that I want a cigarette really bad, I make myself use the gum and sit down and vape for a while first. That seems to be working. It just takes longer for the nicotine to get into your bloodstream, but if you can wait a few minutes it will. My lungs feel tremendous. I can breath easily and deeply. My cough is gone in just these few weeks. Vaping takes some work and some planning. Keep your batteries charged, your atty's clean and the carts ready. Nothing worse than wanting to vape and only being able to produce thin little streams of vapor. I think this stuff might be saving my life!

I love reading the stories of others. I was a little discouraged because it seemed effortless for some but there is value in our collective stories.

Best regards to all!

I quit! The day my smoke stik came in the mail.I haven't had an analog since and I smoked for 44 years.
More importantly I liked smoking.I never really wanted to quit.Imagine my surprise when due to necessity I ordered a smoke stik
and I had no desire for an analog after that. To me it's the same as smoking only better. It tastes good, you don't smell,no standing outside smoking in the rain or snow.My children are happy and the juice comes in chocolate. That in and of itself is enough to quit.:)

I quit! I dont know if my sig will show up but I think I'm at day 14 or so, and.....wait for it....i have NOT even wanted a ... or had a craving!

I ordered my pv because my partner was on a 'quit mission' again, had been doctors and got champix and told me to do the same. I saw a review of the dse901 on libertyflights and the amount of vape completely sold me so i ordered it in a heartbeat, the guy was blowing more vape out than i got smoke from fags! (plus cool rings that i have never been able to do even after 17yrs smoking)

anyway this thing arrived and I gave it to wifey for valentines, because at that point i'd seen the riva901 review and been on here to know what was different etc, so I ordered the riva901 with some diy juice and puffed on her one while I waited.

It was when I made my first batch of strawberry vape and chuffed it through the riva that I realised i would never smoke again, the excitement unwrapping that riva and then clouding the room up with strawberry vape was undescribeable.

2 weeks now and nothing has changed except I have 8 more flavours (apple pie and bergamot were yukky though) and have already converted my brother and a friend, bought this friend her pv today and she is trembling with excitement waiting for it as she's been watching me vape in sheer jealousy. I'll get my bro one soon as I can afford it.

So now I've spend 99 quid ( thats 99 english pounds for you usa chaps) and have a lovely riva, enough juice for ages, and yesterday or so I broke even (would have spent this money anyway killing myself with cancersticks) - so i don't feel selfish looking at the tank system i will soon be buying for myself!

thats my story and i am telling it to everyone that will listen! I think the last thing that made all this so riduculously easy for me was the service from libertyflights, most of you guys know this already but i love 'em!

Happy vaping people!

Dnx

anyway, here's how I see it.

When I started smoking all you could buy were paper wrapped sticks of tobacco leaf that gave you cancer. Now I can buy electronic sticks that are completely healthy and in any flavour I choose. I haven't quit 'real' cigarettes, I moved on. These are the real deal. The things that kill you are the ancient tech that only idiots still smoke because they don't know, understand, or are scared to convert. jMHO!
