Have you been able to flip anybody and if so, how?

I've got my son in law vaping he doesn't smoke anymore but I have about 6 to 8 people on vaping but they still smoke analogs,I don't understand it I've been a vaper for 3 years and will never smoke again. I got my sister in law to guit but it was to late for her she had lung cancer but her last six months she was a vaper,I had got her a kit when I got mine she vaped on them but still smoked until she got lung cancer. I don't no if it would have helped her three years ago to have just stayed with vaping but she didn't ,and I miss her so much.

I haven't 100% converted anyone other than myself yet but I have gotten my fiancé to drastically cut back on her analog intake. We went from smoking a little over a pack a day individually to me being smoke free and her making a pack of cigs last about a week +- 1 day. When I ordered my G6 kit I got 2 batteries and gave one to her. She has been using that a BUNCH so she's getting there!

At the risk of sounding anti-social, I must admit that I don't share the evangelistic fervor that some of the posts in this thread seem to embrace. As a smoker I was bombarded on a daily basis with admonitions and entreaties to get me to quit. In spite of the fact that intellectually I knew it was "for my own good", I resented it.
I started vaping not because someone said that I "ought to", but because I saw a coworker with an e-cigarette and I wanted to try it.
I'm content to let my vaping speak for itself. I welcome questions from those who are curious and I'm happy to extol the advantages of vaping over smoking if asked. One thing a smoker doesn't need is another "born again" ex-smoker telling them how nasty and unhealthy their habit is.

I 100% agree. I haven't even mentioned it, even while vaping, to a few of our friends. I would never had said anything if they hadn't asked ME about it. Its not being antisocial or anything its just the fact that if they want to know, well, then they should ask. No sense in telling someone about it who is in fact not interested anyway. Whenever anyone asks me about vaping, the conversation usually hits on the fact that you can get a plethora of different flavors, in different nicotine strengths, and the wide variety of PVs that there are to choose from.

I am up to number 18, I am not that nice, "here, try this (in a demanding tone!) Do you have any idea how many evil chemicals are in that cigarette? You get the same nicotine and it smells good" I have even had one guy say that he had no intention of quitting, the ego was much more fun and by the time he got around to smoking a ...., he said it tasted awful.

Wow. That is impressive! You're a one man wrecking crew! BT probably has you on their enemies' list and they'll be sending their goons over to you shortly to deal with the matter at hand. :)
I can see the novelty factor but when they stick to it and actually buy a setup for themselves you know you've done something!

Sometimes - can be hard if you are looking to get someone off analogs. Would be the same with my Mother - she wants easy - which means light a ciggy and smoke. Anything not dead simple and no fiddling - not interested. I would think that is a fairly common response to vaping when someone has been smoking for as many years. Fortunately, for myself, even though I had been smoking for 27 years - I also like fiddling and tinkering - so - I replaced ciggys with a new hobby. While I can't speak for them - I would think that a lot of the older folks aren't looking for anything fiddly at all - just my experience.

My mom is the same way. She has a flip phone that she can barely use. She can go days without receiving incoming calls because she's turned the ringer off and can't figure out how to turn it back on. I keep telling her to use the side buttons! She also has an ongoing battle with her DirecTV satellite box. Sometimes I go over there and all she has for tv is a blue screen. She'd probably have the dish repairman on speed dial if she knew how to do it.
If I get her to switch it would definitely have to be something simple, no provari for her. No buttons or switches. I think something like an ego-T may work, just screw on a clearo and go.

That fervor doesn't necessarily mean preaching or criticizing or nagging!

I've become very fervently evangelical about vaping, but I let people come to me. Generally, when people ask me how I'm doing and I mention that I haven't had a cigarette in 45 or whatever days, they won't let me go until they learn my secret. I smoked more than anyone I know, and so people figure if I can do it...

I've converted about 10 co-workers; 4 family members; and over 10 friends to vaping in the past few months. Only two are complete successes so far, but everyone is still vaping at least part-time. Almost all, however, have cut back on smoking substantially and I hope to see them all off smokes in the next few months.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister in law. My mother in law has lung cancer right now and it's been pretty hard on the family. I've smoked for about 30 years. I quit for 4 years cold turkey and then started up again 8 months ago due to stupidity. I've also quit 3 other times in the past but started using again. Usually I start back up when drinking with friends or at points of high stress. When I quit the nicotine craving stays away most of the time but there are those times when the urge comes on like a ton of bricks, even years later for me. My plan is to reduce the nic content gradually and if I ever wean myself completely I will still keep some juice on hand so I won't go to the store for a pack of smokes to relieve the craving. Good luck to you and your son in law.

I have zero interest in flipping anyone. I answer questions anyone has about vaping but when it comes to converting the heathen, I'm no missionary.

Like any other form of substance abuse or addiction, nobody changes their habit unless they want to first. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Mix up missionary zeal and fanboys and you get multi-page posts about which brand of batteries is king or why a $200 ecig is better than a $40 e-cig.

In nearly 2000 posts I have probably helped a couple of people but I don't take credit for converting any of them. They did it themselves.

I think being a happy vaper and sharing how good it's been is the best way to draw others to vaping. I vape where smokers are but never bring it up or preach - I wait for a question. Most people are only receptive if they are interested or desperate. They need to know that it's more fun and tastier than smoking so they don't feel it's a punishing process. I have two people who've completely stopped smoking for over a year that I can say I was the one to get them to start vaping.

I agree with that, but there are a lot of horses that don't know where the water well is or even what it tastes like! I think that many people once given a viable alternative to smokes will take it. In my area there are no vape shops to go into and try the good stuff. Most people around here don't even know the cost savings once you switch, they see the blu kits for $90 and a pack of 5 cartridges for $20 and think no way can I afford that kind of habit. The people on this forum are the choir, it's my friends and family that aren't aware of what's out there that need leading to the trough. I don't want to evangelize, but I'm willing to cajole and browbeat if that's what it takes.

I told my BFF about it and let her use an extra ego with clove. She loved it and a week later, we went to the local vape shop and she got herself a kit. She's about 2 weeks analog free now I think and obsessed with juices LOL.

One of my team members I'm seeing next week and bringing stuff for her to try it. She's been a hardcore smoker for a long time. I'm hoping she will like it, she's definitely interested. I'll gladly hook her up with the goods to make it happen :) I figure I'll give her one of my ego batts, a clearo and some juice to get her started if she likes it.

Hubby converted me a little over a month ago.

I am not pushy about it... I mentioned it to my BFF because I was AMAZED at how satisfying it was and that I never even want an analog. I mentioned it to my team member because I knew she'd tried to quit in the past. It's kind of like weight loss, right? I've lost over 220 pounds in the past 2 years (not a typo) and I don't go around preaching about diet and exercise. People are turned off if you turn into a nutcase preacher.
