Have you been able to flip anybody and if so, how?

Ya I gave away all the extra gear I've had to help people to start and I live off of only 200 a month after bills. Not saying that to get a poor me type of deal. It's part of my spiritual training to help end suffering. Smoking is suffering vaping is freedom. My view is if I can help people cut down I consider that a success because I hope that day will come where that ack nasty taste day comes.

About a year ago several of us at work tried vaping. I quit cigarettes and tried ProSmoke and after 4 months of leaky/dud cartridges, failing batteries, failed battery pack (PPC's I think everyone is calling them now) and no warranty service; I gave up. I'm a 2 pack a day smoker. I must have whined too much because the others fell away as well. Earlier this year I decided to go again and I got a Blu Premium 100 kit. The juice is VG and good; the equipment is working. It's not quite as advertised but it's working. That's a pleasant change. Anyway, the others (without my prompting) have noticed and are starting vaping again as well.

Say what you will about Blu and similar products, it's easy to use. There's very little learning curve. Analog cigarettes come out of the pack and with a little fire they work each and every time. Some of these folks tried all sorts of gear I still hear spoken glowingly on the forum. However wonderful they may be that's a lot of mechanics and chemistry to absorb. My observation is that folks (especially old f**ts like me) need to ease into it even if you go all in like I did.

3 so far, my girl friend and 2 friends I just did some work for. They kept asking me about my setup, I let them try it and told them it is the only thing that really helped me quit analogs. When I was using the Blu I always went back to analogs because the batteries either died, or the taste was aweful, thank god for a real set up. I even had another client ask me about vaping for her mom when she saw my kit on the floor. It's super cool to see people make the switch!

My sister but I didn't really convert her so to speak when I started vaping she was curious and started asking questions. I was honest and told her the benefits. As time went on with the way the laws are getting about smoking in public places and being she is a chain smoker she finally made the plunge. She still smokes occasionally but that is getting to be less and less and she is vapping more and more. I think it just depends on the person.

My mom is the same way. She has a flip phone that she can barely use. She can go days without receiving incoming calls because she's turned the ringer off and can't figure out how to turn it back on. I keep telling her to use the side buttons! She also has an ongoing battle with her DirecTV satellite box. Sometimes I go over there and all she has for tv is a blue screen. She'd probably have the dish repairman on speed dial if she knew how to do it.
If I get her to switch it would definitely have to be something simple, no provari for her. No buttons or switches. I think something like an ego-T may work, just screw on a clearo and go.

Yep! Give her an ego with a clearo (don't forget the charger ;) ) & remind her to 'push the button' That's what I did with my mom; oh, & give her one of those soft needle bottles too if she's old. Those hard ones can be difficult for us older folks to squeeze :(

I told my BFF about it and let her use an extra ego with clove. She loved it and a week later, we went to the local vape shop and she got herself a kit. She's about 2 weeks analog free now I think and obsessed with juices LOL.

One of my team members I'm seeing next week and bringing stuff for her to try it. She's been a hardcore smoker for a long time. I'm hoping she will like it, she's definitely interested. I'll gladly hook her up with the goods to make it happen :) I figure I'll give her one of my ego batts, a clearo and some juice to get her started if she likes it.

Hubby converted me a little over a month ago.

I am not pushy about it... I mentioned it to my BFF because I was AMAZED at how satisfying it was and that I never even want an analog. I mentioned it to my team member because I knew she'd tried to quit in the past. It's kind of like weight loss, right? I've lost over 220 pounds in the past 2 years (not a typo) and I don't go around preaching about diet and exercise. People are turned off if you turn into a nutcase preacher.

 WoW! Candy, 220?!? That is awesome:thumbs:

My ex heard from our son that I was vaping and asked me what he should get so I helped him order a starter kit. I really had no intention on saving his life but who'd have thunk. Lol. He has vaped several months at a time and then smokes cigs about a week, then goes back to vaping when he feels bad from the cigs again. He's been doing that for almost 2 years. A good friend of both of us started vaping a little over a year ago and has never smoked again. I've been vaping almost 2 years and never smoked again. All 3 of us smoked cigs about 30+ years each and are in our 50's. my son now is 25 and he Vapes sometimes and smokes sometimes. I have a friend in her late 50's that just hasn't been able to enjoy vaping despite all the stuff I've given her. I had to give up on her. I think people need to somewhat want to quit smoking, but sometimes people have a hard time vaping cause it makes them cough, or whatever other reason. I have a neighbor that's in her 60's that I got hooked on vaping and she's been vaping about 4 months and hasn't smoked. It seems people either really love it, or not so much. Most seem to love it once they get a decent setup and flavor. I hope your mom likes it and best of luck!

That's funny about your ex! My ex took my cigarette packs when she found out I was vaping and noticed my cig packs just lying around my house for a couple of weeks. She didn't bother to tell me, just figured I wouldn't be needing them anymore. I don't miss em (the packs of course)! She tried my blu but didn't like it. No surprises there though because she doesn't like anything that I do! I think she thinks it's too complicated and likes the ease of just lighting up. She has noticed my progression from blu to ego and is curious, so I have a feeling I may have to set her up with a PV system in the near future.

Wow. That is impressive! You're a one man wrecking crew! BT probably has you on their enemies' list and they'll be sending their goons over to you shortly to deal with the matter at hand. :)
I can see the novelty factor but when they stick to it and actually buy a setup for themselves you know you've done something!

I will have to admit that I had some "extra" money in my paypal account and bought quite a few kits. Then I started mixing my own juice and I tend to "give" it away. I know I have them when they come back for more. I decided I am on a "mission"!!!

I have semi-converted two people. My sister in law, and her husband. I was at there hose, and just started vaping..they stared for a while, and were unsure. They both asked questions, and tried it. A week later, they had both bought kits, and had about 4 flavors. They still vape, but they smoke there analogs as well. At least they arent smoking 3-4 cartons a week anymore. They are trying.

I was flipped by having to have an eCig while at the hospital as my daughter was having surgery. Could not fathom a full day without nicotine! Once I made the switch, I found two other eCig smokers at work. The sense of community was great! They supported me, and I them, as we each vaped our preferred ecigs. ECF is now enhancing that sense of community for me, and I am encouraging them to register for ECF. Now, I have all but switched the final smoker in our office. Early last week, I offered to buy him a kit to have him try it and he told me not to waste my money. Then, on Friday after he saw me vaping in the office and there was no lingering smell and the vapor dissipated quickly, he must have had a change of heart. I went into his office to give him a weekly report and noticed he had printed out a stack of papers on ecigs, and paper clipped them together. Turns out, he was doing his research! I just didn't know it. If he does not have a device next week because he is concerned about not liking it, I buy him one to try. Hoping he will have made the switch over the weekend, though. I think his big fear is not getting enough nicotine, so if I can reassure him he can get that with vaping, he should be just fine! I also am encouraging my cousin. She is using Blu (she says she only uses it when she needs the nicotine at work and doesn't want to go outside), but still smoking analogs too. Hopefully I can encourage her through showing her other options. Don't get me wrong, I still have Blu disposables in my purse for use in a pinch, but my eGo is my favorite. Hang in there! Encourage her and let her try your rig!

Both of my Ex's parents died from lung cancer from smoking in their early 60's so he really needs to quit. But also I started doing Vape meets in south Florida and seen alot of people quit smoking, which is very cool. And my friend that i got vaping has converted alot of people so I guess the blessings do multiply through other people. :) I don't push people but I do Vape in public with my Provari all the time. And when someone asks me about it, I give them our Vape group business cards we got made. :)

I've flipped a lot, I worked in night clubs so I had to find away around the smoking ban. Most had never seen e-cigs before I explained how they worked and told them to do some research. Soon it was something we all had in common. One by one they converted for the same reasons. Its a real drag when everyone is waiting for the guy to come in that's outside having his cig.

I haven't tried to flip anybody, I have hard enough time supplying all those that approach me! The best one was a 2.5 PAD construction worker. Knowing he was spending a fortune on cigs, New Years eve I set him up with a Provai, Vivi-Novas & 500 ml of various juice. Saw him last week... sez hasn't had an analog since NYE.

    I'll second that! :toast:

223, to be exact, as of this morning. LOL! 2 more to go until I'm done. Thanks. It's like smoking or anything else, you have to come to it in your own time, ya know? At first, I was embarrassed to say I lost that much weight, putting a number to it is quite humbling, but... I dunno, I'm proud of it now. Fighting your way away from obesity is similar to fighting your way off of cigarettes. It's about addiction and it's the same set of steps to come to realize you need to change.

    (sorry for the mini-hijack)
