having bad side effects with PG..AM SO UPSET !!!

sooooooo, have only been vaping for about a week...got my new 510 and was so happy.....( did do a LOT of vaping ...couldnt put it down )

then after three days of rabid vaping...starting getting s.o.b and wheezing, tight chest , felt like hell...and NOW have these three ( giant ) cysts on my face !!!!!

Plus my eye sockets felt like they were drying out so bad.......... ( not my eyes...the sockets !!! )

I have to think it is from the PG juice.....

I have put away my beautiful vape machine for now.....I do have some VG juice..but I want all of these symptoms to subside before I try again.

I am just so upset because this is honestly the first time in my life that I thought or even wanted to try and stop smoking !

I guess I must be one of the unlucky ones wth some type of allergic reaction ?

Am smoking my regulars again..for now.

You may want to do a search here on the side effects caused by quitting smoking. I think you'll be surprised at how much we detox even though we continue to use nicotine.

I went through everything you're describing - twice (each for about 3 days) once when I dropped my analogs to 3 a day and again when I dropped them altogether.

There are many liquid options available in VG for those with PG sensitivity.

Just try not to get those two mixed up (starting vaping and withdrawal from tobacco - withdrawal that can give lots of different symptoms) - perhaps you are sensitive to PG, don't get me wrong - but afaik only around one in ten is sensitive, the other 9 aren't (though they too will have to go through the initial dry and croaky throat for the majority! - they aren't sensitive to it though, once they get through that phase all is fine with them and PG!)
Going to VG is of course the own choice and just fine - but for my feeling such a shame to do it needlessly - denying yourself the much greater choice of suppliers and flavors that PG gives, plus denying yourself the possibly great protective aspects of PG (just my thoughts on this of course).

I hope this situation clears soon for you so you can get back on the e-vaping wagon, one way or another.

Really cannot take the tight chest and wheezing..

I do have VG juice and am going to experiment with this....looking up the glycerin threads.............

Hi Barb,

I had a hard time with PG at first as well, particularly with a tight chest and dry throat. Once I switched to VG they all went away. Now that I have adapted I can handle both PG or VG with no issues. I do make sure I drink quite a bit while I vape..it really does seem to help.

i hope you didn't spill any juice on yourself
i was initially careless when refilling carts and ignored what was on my finger tips by rubbing them till it dried
then noticed some tightness in the chest
i wipe my fingers clean right away and it doesn't happen anymore
same tightness, only much worse, happened in the past when i used the nic patch
i was really scared, thought i might be having a heart attack
i gave up on the patch at that 1st try and switched to nic gum for flights

well, that is very hopeful to hear.........I luckily did buy a few bottles of VG when I got the 510...and have an order that was placed from vapesmart coming in.....I will definately be trying again.

I will also be more careful with spillage of the juice...definately was messy with it when first loading the carts...might be an issue that contributed.

I put in an order for 50 blank carts with Jack a week ago so I am assuming they are just dry carts and I can add ny own juice to them.

Hey Barb,

I am sorry to hear about your problems with the PG. I just wanted to let you know that I just finally seem to have gotten my juice mix to where I want it and it is a good 2/3 VG, and it is WONDERFUL.....LOTS OF VAPOUR, so this may work out really well for you in the end.

Now here's my question for the others. Is there a problem with vaping mostly VG? I've read hints to that effect, but was wondering what you guys think.

from what i've read on this forum, vg can release a carcinogen if it is heated to something like 350'C or 660'F [don't quote me on this number]
imo, those numbers are unlikely with the crappy battery/atomizers we use but i've not actually noticed any atomizer temp numbers posted yet

Barb, I know it can be so uncomfortable and scary too-
I had the same tightening asthma like in the last while - I had already been doing 50/50 PG /VG -so before going to full VG. I decided to stop the Lorann flavors or any juices that were sweet or dark colored..and its almost back to normal (I'm using Nuck's mix now full time!)
So in the end, for me it was adding 50% VG but also knocking out some very sweet or dark flavors..

Icarium, its been posted that our atomizers hit approx 250C so no danger of acrolein being formed..I don't have those posts on hand but its been discussed a lot - I'll try to find them ..!

I am busily reading every thread on DYI juices...

It does seem as though there are lots of peope who exhibit sensitivites to the PG...I really HATE these cysts on my face ( I have never had this before..hence the thought that it is related to the PG )

I could relate the tight chest and wheezing to me over-vaping as I went a litlle crazy with it when I first got it..

the dryness behind my eyes ( hard to explain ) which really started to be uncomfortable to the point of painful and then the development of the cysts made me think of a sensitivity to the juice itself.........(certainly not classifying it as an allergic response)

I am going to let these cysts resolve before attempting the new juice mixtures..

I'm glad to hear that VG is pretty much okay, as this is the first time that I have really gotten satisfaction out of vaping (despite smoking half an anlalog with out realizing it). There isn't even that much nic in this juice.

You may want to try another brand of juice. I was vaping some juice from Ruyandirect (Vanilla & Flue Cured Tobacco) daily. I had similar symptoms but since I switched to JC and Eastmall those symptoms have gone away.
