Quick and perhaps ignorant question here...

Is there any way to power this device off without removing the battery? If so, I feel stupid for not finding it yet. Perhaps the chip doesn't offer that feature?

Many thanks

Sam

you can lock it but while the chip will put itself to sleep you can't shut it down

ok with the battery ground wiring fix the battery indicator works properly. sort of.

works fine if I'm going through a battery during the course of a day. When I notice that it is off is on days that I work and I'm not going through a battery during the day and the device is going through multiple sleeps across a couple days before the battery gets swapped. Under those conditions the battery indicator appears to be way off. That might just be a DNA 40 thing.

Yes, the battery indicator does seem to jump around a little on me. Fortunately for me, I don't look at the screen too often, so I don't notice it as much.

hmmmmmm... dazed and confused. I can solder, so which FDV 510 is the right part for this? < groundable connection
you think you can stake the current 510 into a fixed position?
I wonder who has these in stock

I don't think there is a way of staking the current 510. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can answer your question regarding replacing the 510.

Well I was hoping to add my input on how this thing works but apparently my post office can't figure out where I live anymore and shipped it back to Sweet Vapes. Hopefully they get this sorted and I get the damn thing this week. Soldering iron and wire standing by.

That sucks. Hopefully it doesn't take too long for your package to be reshipped to you. I recently purchased something from a vendor that I hadn't tried before. It appears that they didn't put my full address on the package. They shipped it on the 13th, it got all the way to my zip code before being redirected back for "Insufficient Address" on the 17th. It's currently back in a Georgia post office since the 23rd. I'm not sure why it hasn't been delivered back to the vendor yet.

Hopefully yours goes more smoothly.

SweetVapes received it back today and are reshipping it to me tomorrow. SO if all goes right it will arrive Sat.

So i sent my device back to sweet vapes since it was still under warranty with an email going over all the issues. hadnt heard anything for a couple of days after they recieved it so i sent an email asking if there was any update. they said that they should have the newest run that is supposed to have everything fixed from hcigar within the week and instead of sending mine to hcigar for repair or attempting it themselves, they would just send me out one of the new run. awesome customer service! ill let you guys know what the internals look like and try to get some pics when i get it

Anyone attempt to replace the 510 yet with a FDV V4 or 3?

Shawn

not heard of anyone doing it yet but as long as you can get the original juice well out its just a matter of popping it in and soldering. i dont have my device back yet but iirc the original juice well is press fit so you may have to rig up to pull it out somewhat like the tool you use to remove a wheel bearing from the steering knuckle depending on how tightly its press fit in there. maybe someone who has thier device in front of them can answer that part better. other than that you would just have to soldier the posative lead to the bottom and the negative lead attached to the top grounding screw to the negative solder point on the FD 510 and bobs your uncle

I'll take a look once mine gets here. I guess worse case it can be carefully cut off but that would be a serious PITA I'm sure. Soldering up a new one is easy yes.

I am getting the battery gnd fix performed on mine tomorrow after work

Looking forward to seeing if anyone beats me to replacing the 510 connector with a nicer part :)

If I had known about these issues I would have got a blem Hana or a small screen rDNA for a few bucks more instead. For me, not keeping this box represents more hassle than keeping it. I still very much like this box btw, or I'd never be going to these lengths for it.

Haven`t read the hole thread yet, so hopefully I don`t say anything that is already been covered. But I asked a UK vendor if they have fixed the issue them selfe. The answer was that the UK batch did not have this issue, and it must only be the US batch.
So, the issue, are only there if "the weak battery" shows up at once,no?

Got my battery ground fixed today gratis by a very nice MVP-vaping tv repair guy. Looked at the 510 connector and could not get it to spin. Felt it spin the first three or four times I put a tank on it, but nothing today when I tried to get it to spin. I'll keep an eye on it.

Did you order from US or UK? The word "gratis" seems very familiar to my language :) I ordered from US, and it`s still in transit.

Ok so I 'fixed' my ground issue by bridging the negative screw to the board. No issues so far.

Not sure what all the hate is regarding the 510 connector failing? I got this:

Tank Airflow Controller

You can shut the airflow completely off and it basically functions as a thread-saver, no 510 issues with this device.

I liked it so much, I ordered 3 more of them for other devices. Screw it on once and never have your 510 connection move again. I love it and verified with this mod, no movement when I remove/attach my sub tank, etc.

Why worry about a new 510, if you can just stop the problem for $2.99?

Even with that installed, I imagine it could still spin the device's connector at times, so watch for it. Like this (from a previous post):

Also, thank you to the question as to whether or not I could physically shut it off. Makes sense and is fine.

I of course have the issues with the battery meter, like everyone else, but not such a big deal for me.

Love the TC so much. Still trying to figure out if I should get a VS rDNA40 V2 now, or if I stioll need to wait. So confused about what I read online.

Regards
