I can't weigh in on ni200 til my tempered shows up in the mail. Lightning vape ni200 has a problem where it reads 50-100 degrees hotter than it should. Based on my experience there, I have no use for temp control, but since I know that others had the same problems I faced with that wire I ordered the tempered ni200 from Stealth vape and will try it again.

Just as a standard 40w regulated mod it's a very good box IMO
What gauge? All of them? I thought they just used rebadged temco wire.

search ecf and reddit for others having issues with LV ni200. Mine barely made any vapor at all at 450 using that wire.

and dr g, I've witnessed your know it all bs in other threads. Take it somewhere else, we don't need it.

It's user error if people are getting those results. I don't know it all, but I do know what Ni200 is and that it's physically impossible for it to perform that much differently from other Ni200. I also have been through a lot of both LV and temco wire, they do not perform differently.

you would think so with the difficulty posed by getting your ni200 build right and not being able to account for people making their builds correctly, but you can't disregard several people all saying they ran into the same problem with that wire, and when they got ni200 from another source their issues ceased. I made two rock solid builds, 0.13 and 0.16, no hot spots and both heated beautifully from the inside out, spaced coils. Neither was vapeable on a DNA40 at 450.

Unless you have ni200 from the same batch as those of us who had issues with this wire, you can not state that it is user error. You're going off your previous experience and what you think instead of working with facts gained from your experience with this same wire. I will post in the LV ni200 thread here on ECF what my experience is with the tempered ni200 from Stealth Vape and whether it solved what I felt was a completely unvapeable setup at 450 degrees.

There are a lot more than several people that have no idea what they are doing. I've been through thousands of feet of both types.

Again it is physically impossible for one pure nickel wire to perform much differently from another pure nickel wire in the area of temperature control. The laws of physics do not change.

Out of curiousity what wattage were you trying the 450f? I ask because I had huge issues getting no vapor and hitting temp my first coil but after getting it right I can get plenty of vapor at 450f .13ohms and 15w (LV ni200). 20w or higher I hit temp to quick.

Either way 450 is too cool for me I have been happy with 550f so far today after getting a good coil going.

BTW I read the relevant threads on reddit and here, and there are a sum total of about 4 people claiming this "issue." And judging by their posts, I'd rate the likelihood of user error very high. You can tell in the way they talk about temperature that they don't understand what they are doing.

There are probably many thousands of other people using LV wire, temco was out for quite a while when the DNA40 was released.

BS started..

Unnecessary IMO..... you must belong to the GS.

My only post....

straw man and ad hominem, exactly what I expected from dr g

BS continued

And we say goodbye to another thread that was perfectly happy. I hope most ecf members can see your true intent dr g and retird.

I guess you two will be happy once you've "proved" your "righteousness" on every single temp controlled thread, when in fact most of the posts are trolling IMO.

BS continued

So is this going to end or should I unsubscribe from this thread? I just want an answer but every time I get an email and check out this thread, it's just a bunch of stupid BS.

You hit the nail on the head...

Sorry mate, fair point. I'll back out, I'm gone.

Agreed it was BS and backed out..

nuffr said.... sorry for this OS post....setting the record strait..."play nice".... this is not what this thread is about..

If the wire is Ni200 it will behave exactly the same, you guys will never get your stuff working until:
1) you wash the wire in stump water
2) while naked and under a full moon
3) and you align your body with magnetic north and polar south
4) while you wind the coil the same way water spirals down the drain.

Good luck! :)

Ok ground is fixed.
And I got a good coil on it finally. I agree 100% Vapenstein the smoked screen sucks but I am digging the Mod.
Shawn

Looks great. Much cleaner looking than my attempt. Glad to hear you've found a build and setting that you like. I'm haven't had enough free time to really find a sweet spot for me. I've only tried it using single coil Ni200 28GA (Temco) in a dripper. Hopefully I'll find some time this weekend to try some other things including an RTA.

Ok so I scrolled through some pages and I apologize if this has already been addressed. I really want to get a DNA 40 device but I'm really hesitant after Busardo's review. I know he didn't test this device but are you guys having the issues he was with other devices as far as it getting stuck in TC mode or the refinement problems? I'm really glad I found out about those issues because it seems like some major PITA stuff! Kinda off topic but you can't make a contact coil with nickel? Thanks for any help. I think the price is great for this device but I just don't want something that will add unnecessary stress to my life. I'm aware of the ground issue. No biggy there.

Sorry I probably won't be of much help, but my suggestion would be, if this would be your only device, you may want to wait. Not because I dislike the device, I actually have a second on order. But it does seem to be a little finicky in TC mode, but not enough to dissuade me from playing with it more. I haven't used it outside of the house, because I'm still in the playing with it stage and if I find a build and topper that seems stable enough then I would feel more comfortable taking it on the go. But I would probably have a back up device, just in case.

If you already have a regular device and you want to try a DNA 40 device just to play with TC, I would say go ahead and pick one up. Although the safer route would probably be waiting about 2-3 months to see how all of the TC devices shake out. I'm really curious how the Yihi chips perform and will probably pick one up within the next 3 months. It sounds like Yihi will have a budget TC chip available next month, the only drawback is no step down, but if you usually vape over 4V, then this probably wouldn't be an issue.

I haven't tried mine in non-TC mode, but from what Vapenstein has written, it sounds like a winner. So I don't know if mine will run into the problems of getting stuck in TC or non-TC mode. I really like the fact that it has proper step down. I'll eventually try non-TC mode, but it's not a priority since I still have my other devices. I haven't run into the refinement problem, but I also haven't experimented with it enough.

From reading around, the DNA40 devices do seem like a PITA. I've purchased a few different drippers and toppers to experiment with. Unfortunately, I'm inherently lazy, so who knows when I'll get around to trying them all. I still have RTA's that I purchased in February 2014 that I haven't used.

I haven't tried contact coils yet. All of mine have been spaced. And from what I've read and watched on youtube, it seems like that's what we're suppose to use for TC mode. But I'm not 100% sure. The ONLY problems I've had so far with the device is my first coil build, I used the post holes and didn't make good contact with the wire. Resulted in weak vape. Fixed this by trapping wire under the screws on top of post holes. Second was when I was too lazy to wait for my Samsung 25R to charge on my external charger and put a newly charged Efest purple in it. For some odd reason the device was firing over my wattage setting and the coil was definitely HOTTER than what I was use to. Only tried it for about 5 presses of the fire button. Took out Efest, put back in the charged 25R and it was normal again. I have no clue why. So I haven't tried the Efest since then.

The price on the device was the reason I jumped on it. Plus how clean the inside of the box looked. I have a feeling there will be a ton of TC devices by the end of the year, so there's probably no hurry to jump in. From the tone of your post above, I would suggest waiting. If you absolutely NEED a device now, there are a ton of cheap, well made devices on the market now that will hold you over until this whole TC thing shakes out. Just my opinion.

No step down would be a huge problem with a TC chip though, wouldn't it? No way to scale down the watts to maintain temperature. Plus a .1 ohm coil at 4v is 160w (though the resistance rises when the temperature increases), so step down is really necessary.

Interesting point. I was only going off of the very little bit of speculation that has been out there and what little I've read regarding the SX330 chip, I have no idea how this new SX330V4S will actually work. But you are correct, it would need a way to manage the temperature. There seems to be so little information regarding how Yihi is implementing this in their new chip that's going into the IPV4. I can't wait to see the first user reviews.
