Honestly April, I think because I refuse any pain meds until I absolutely have no choice, helps me heal faster. I don't know if that makes any sense but it works for me and my body.

Recovery is a mind set. I always try to psych up my OR pts to get up and moving as soon as they can. Realizing there will be pain involved, but to move around anyway. I see people fearful of the pain just laying in bed, they end up in ICU with bilateral pneumonia. Move talk laugh, rest medicate repeat.

It's mg and that's a good dose. 25 doesn't do much (in my experience with post op pts). I prefer to push fentanyl seems like it lasts longer. I'm surprised you didn't get a PCA. Or did you and it's been d/c?

Anyway.. Whatever it takes to keep you comfy enough to get up and moving and sleep thru all the hospital buzz at night.

PCA? The tube through the nose? If so.....yeah I had that till I couldn't take the pain from that anymore. Good god! My throat was swelling and could not swallow. Hardly able to breathe then slight panic sets in and really having a hard time. Could hardly speak. When a nurse finally came in I was crying (I hate showing weakness) she called the doc and got permission to remove it. That was hell! That came out Wednesday afternoon. The throat is just the tiniest bit sore today. I might get the IV off today. That would be another huge step :)

Are you back from your walk?

The PCA is "patient controlled analgesic" pump. It would have been a button you push that administers small amounts of narcotics into the IV when you push the button.

The O2 via nasal canula is obnoxious!

The "Happy" button. :D

Pain scale depends on position and time of day. So far today.....highest being 5 (getting out of bed) Right now just sitting in a chair...0. Walking...about a 2.5. Last pain med was at 11:00pm. 50mg Demerol through IV.

I've had a BM last night (I know TMI) so things are waking up inside. Good thing, right?

You don't have to be so proper and girly. Just say you took a dump. Pappy would. :)

Ok had enough coffee for the talkie to work.

An update since it's been a while, tmi post warning for the guys.

2 weeks ago I switched doctors to someone I trust a lot more. She told me after seeing the pics from the surgery in January there's a good chance that my ovary reattached itself, and that there were so many adhesions it's likely he missed some. I had three weeks of relief after that surgery and it all came crashing back. She thinks there are adhesions all through my lower half, in my back, bowels, utedus, and so on.

So she started me on birth control. At the moment it hasn't done anything for me, but she said to give it a month. I had to go buy a dress for a wedding last night, after walking so much I came home and had basically level 10 labor contraction pains for hours. Still paying for it this morning. She doesn't want to do the hysterectomy as of right now because she doesn't think that will actually get rid of all the pain. Next step is the horrendous evil lupron shots. I'm really trying to avoid that, they scare the heck out of me. She wanted to also do mirena implant but insurance doesn't cover it. If I'm gonna pay $2000 for something it will be for surgery, I don't have any hope for the implant to work at all.

So anyway that's the update for those I've told before about everything that was going on.

Good grief! In my prayers tonight, I'm going to once again thank God for not making me a female. I could never handle it.

You hang in there too Always.

Thanks bronze :) I'll be fine, just working our way through her bag of tricks at the moment. The main thing is controlling the symptoms at the moment. Some days are better than others. If I don't move much the pain is quite manageable, but I wasn't made for sitting still. I don't usually get major pain until after the fact so I tend to overdo it

I would've thought a cheerleader uniform..... Probably saving that for the third weekend outing ;)

That was the third date, Robin. I have realized if that is gonna be a problem, there's no sense in a fourth date.

April, it's the middle of the night in AZ and you're posting on ECF? You must like us.
Well I do like everyone, but... My sweet dog likes to eat as early as possible and there's not much else to quietly do in house where everyone is still sleeping!

Heading to work...

No, not self medicating. I get food today! I have to start slow so I ordered scrambled eggs, white toast and hot tea. Can't wait till it gets here. :) It will probably suck but tea and toast are a good combo. If I don't throw that up I should be able to get the IV off. :D

Dr Oz is fast becoming a quack. If you want some info about vaping, check out CASAA. That may help convince mom.

Thanks, Hulamoon! I had loaded up on ECF and CASAA info before going far into vaping. And I got to her with good info before Dr. Oz aired! We haven't talked since his episode (seizure? Brain fart? Sellout?) so she may fight me on this after seeing him. I'll be ready.

I would say sellout. I hate that I've gotten so cynical since I started vaping. My eyes have been opened and I can't shut them anymore. I question everybody's motives now.
