Robin, how do they know those nodes did not metastasize? Can they tell they are all self contained somehow? Do they leave a trail if it did metastasize?

He removed a lot. Also the blood supply (?) He got into detail but...I am so medical terminology challenged. All I know is I have the pathology report and he circled what applies. He also did a blood test screen, CEA, which detects cancer in the blood.

The nodes tested negative for cancer. I'm guessing that the only thing was that one area. It has the size on the paper. It was in the fatty part? I was going to read the report to my DIL and maybe she can break it down for me in layman's terms. :)

Oh and the liver was clean too.

Now I'm confused. The nodes he removed did NOT have cancer? So where was the cancer?

Cancer metastasizes (spreads) either by growing directly into other tissues, or by cancer cells being carried away by the blood or lymphatic system. By checking the lymph nodes nearest the tumor, and by checking the blood they can be pretty sure it hasn't spread.

By the way, I'm glad to hear such a positive outcome!

Makes sense. Thank you. I'm also assuming the 11 nodes Robin speaks of were those that were on the 2-foot section that was removed (and/or near that section).

OK, so it was in the intestine and did not spread to the lymph nodes (if I understand you right).

So what's ahead in terms of monitoring?

For sure a colonoscopy next year and probably a year after that. It will probably get to the point where it is one every three years instead of the 5 - 10 that "normal" people get.

Thanks, Hulamoon! I had loaded up on ECF and CASAA info before going far into vaping. And I got to her with good info before Dr. Oz aired! We haven't talked since his episode (seizure? Brain fart? Sellout?) so she may fight me on this after seeing him. I'll be ready.

I am sick to death with jackasses like Dr. Oz and the rest of the anti freedom , anti american media , nothing riles me up more than a blatant liar with a tv show !

Ok had enough coffee for the talkie to work.

An update since it's been a while, tmi post warning for the guys.

2 weeks ago I switched doctors to someone I trust a lot more. She told me after seeing the pics from the surgery in January there's a good chance that my ovary reattached itself, and that there were so many adhesions it's likely he missed some. I had three weeks of relief after that surgery and it all came crashing back. She thinks there are adhesions all through my lower half, in my back, bowels, utedus, and so on.

So she started me on birth control. At the moment it hasn't done anything for me, but she said to give it a month. I had to go buy a dress for a wedding last night, after walking so much I came home and had basically level 10 labor contraction pains for hours. Still paying for it this morning. She doesn't want to do the hysterectomy as of right now because she doesn't think that will actually get rid of all the pain. Next step is the horrendous evil lupron shots. I'm really trying to avoid that, they scare the heck out of me. She wanted to also do mirena implant but insurance doesn't cover it. If I'm gonna pay $2000 for something it will be for surgery, I don't have any hope for the implant to work at all.

So anyway that's the update for those I've told before about everything that was going on.

All of this and you're still able to keep your mind in the gutter , I am seriously impressed ! All jokes aside you might wanna get a third opinion , somehow it seems like there's not enough concern for your quality of life , maybe I'm wrong but it couldn't hurt . Keep us updated Always , We're here for you .
