Quick question for double guru Bronze: Did you intend for those coils you sent me to go across the air hole at 45 degrees? That's what I did with them, just seemed like the way you had the bends in the leads that's how you set them up.

They went perpendicular to the deck when I made them but it really doesn't matter. It is how it ends up. Any problems?

Nope, just curious. They work fine at a 45, i just wet down the wicks and push them up against the rise in the deck away from the channels.

Perfect! I'd say half the people have them at 45's. Other half at 90. There was once a debate that one was better than the other until everyone realized it made no difference. There are lots of ways to build a kayfun and some swear their way is the best. To each their own.

Still going with the silica?

Yeah, I'm still using the same coil and wick that I put on when I got it. After watching Busardo's wick testing vid, I'm thinking Sam might be right about his beloved rayon. Thinking about getting some of that and giving it a go. The design of this thing is so brilliant, i think even I might have a hard time screwing it up.

I have done it both ways a few times each now and I personally like to put them at 45 degree angle. Just seems easier to get the wick positioned right the first time.

Like Bronze said, though, it comes down to personal preference all the way.

I learned how to type during summer school between 8th grade and my freshman year in high school (1973). On an IBM Selectric. My Mom was fed up with my brother and me and there was no way she was gonna have us hanging around all summer so she made us both go to summer school that year. Naturally, I resented it but years later when computers became popular I was glad I took that class. I don't type correctly (I hunt and peck with my two index fingers) but I never forgot where the keys were. :)

I took a typing course in junior high (7th grade?). We used the old manual ones, can't remember what brand they were, but they were a bugger to operate. Talk about carpal tunnel syndrome! And the sticking hammers were a PITA. I did manage to get up to 42 words per minute and have never forgotten were the keys are, either. Don't know what happened, but I can't type that fast now - maybe 25-30 WPM. Probably, too much coffee in the keyboard. ;)

Yeah, have some fun with it if you want. I don't know if you'll find Rayon better or not. Lots of people say they do. I can't tell much of a difference between anything. I think I roached out my tongue with decades of smoking.

I learned to type on a commodore 64, could not print or save and the keyboards were AWEFUL. If I put effort into it I can still type 90 WPM

My palette is anything but refined. I was just impressed with how well the rayon moved pure vegetable glycerin. Busardo is the man, still the best reviewer out there.

Some people still manage to. But I think they don't really want it to work or they're trying to hard. My setup is the best.

For me.
