Well Dusty, I am so glad you family had a wonderful birthday time together. The little furby's were adorable. :D

Hula, your story really choked me up. My cat died of liver disease. I went through some of what you did. She was in some ways like a dog. Very loveable. Since we already had two others, I didn't get another cat. But after I lost my old dog last year about this time, I decided I would get another puppy in a few months. Your kitty will remain in your thoughts. I still think of beloved old pets, from times gone by. They do manage to pull the heart strings so much. I treat this puppy much as a proud mama would. But she does get on my nerves at times. Today I took Bella to the river. She loved it. I met a couple of friends, who had more friends. Bella did really well, I was very happy with her overall. Your new kitty Hula, is a doll. I am so happy for you. That new kitty will help lighten the loss. She is a little angel. I wish you many wonderful years together, and most of all, lots of love. That is what it all boils down to. My son's cat has turned into my new cat, after he left. My son will be home in 3 months for leave. I can't wait to see how he and my puppy get along. (hopefully good) The cat will probably hide for a little while when he comes home. Then she will come out and stare at him. Then she will hang around him, as much as possible. But she knows he won't be home for good. He says she isn't his cat. Try telling that to HER...lol. Cats make up their own minds thank you very much. Seriously though, I imagine she will be staying with me, even when my son gets out of the military.

Hula, my dad died almost 9 years ago. He was a farmer. The only thing he cared about or thought about his entire life was farming. And he could grow anything.

The only thing I kept from the funeral was a mum plant. We planted it at our previous house and it just took off growing and spreading. When we moved to our current home about 8 years ago, we brought some of it with us and planted it near our back patio here. Same thing. It grows and spreads like crazy. We've dug up parts of it and given them to people who have had the same results. Spring is in full motion here, and the mum is off to the races once again.

I have no idea how the web of life works in this universe, and I don't know if there's some cosmic connection between that mum and my dad. It could be, and probably is, pure coincidence. But if nothing else, I think of my dad every time I see that mum.

I had a doctor appointment for my finger today via teleconference, very strange way to have a doctor's visit...

He said to take the splint off and wrap it in sports tape and see how it feels after a few hours, well it sure as hell doesn't feel good at all!!!!!

I'm putting the splint back on!

Pappy, I am sorry to hear about your dad. But it was nice to hear the story of the mum. My dad loved his vegetable garden. It was his pride and joy. He was a big time hunter, and angler. I got the angler part from him, as did my brother. My son also loves to fish. My father passed 5 years ago. But a part of him will always be with us.

Just finished watching 'Last Vegas' again. Really like that movie, old farts having a good time.
Spent the afternoon on the riding mower and in the Garden. Winter overgrowth cleared and raked clean. Potatoes are in the ground. Try to turn and fertilize the rest tomorrow, although I am only doing half as much this year. 1 Better Boy, 1 Mr. Stripey, 6 California Wonder, 16' of Potatoes, two 16' rows of bush beans, 6 Pickling Vines and 6 Zucchini. No corn, onion, carrots, lettuce. I'm getting too old and this job I am on takes up way too much time.
Gonna clean up and retire for the evening. But not before I went and threw a log on Bronze's fire-starter thread ;)

Good Morning Army. Easing into my second cup. Daughter says Subway for breakfast, her treat. Once I get awake, it'll be time for more yard and garden work.
Hula, I think your new cat will be well loved and in a good home. How you get 20+ years out of a cat is beyond me....

Have a Safe and Blessed Sunday :nun:
