hmmm okay.. there might be a term lost in translation here... the backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the hole which houses the locking assembly ( where the door knob/lock is... the big hole) the mechanism that keeps the door shut is the latch and comes in a few different sizes... 2 1/8, 2 3/4, 4, 5... etc ( these measurements drive the distance of the backset of the hole)
the main reason why the 4+" backset locks went away is due to the skimpy design on new doors ( residential) the frame of the new doors are about 2.5" wide with a crossbar ( think "H") with just enuf body to handle the drilling placement... about the only time one can use the "good stuff" is on solid core doors ( main entry no glass)

Thanks BK! Yep - our condo was built in 1970. One of the reasons I like it so much is because the wood is good n solid, with a triple moulding on the frames, none of those hollow doors. It is 4 ins from door edge to center of door knob hole. If anyone sees such a thing online/elsewhere, please give me a holler! (4 inch backset (privacy) door lock set).

Astonishingly, there is a petition in my city of Richmond gaining traction to have the statues of Confederate generals "taken down"! Say what? These are amazing works of art that the flipping road (Monument Avenue) was NAMED FOR!

Ugh. Many people today are such petty, small-minded, and brutish creatures.
