The average person can be persuaded fairly easily. Many still believe everything in the news.

Persuaded to the point of irrationality. The documentary quoted from some letters Coke received in 1985 after the launch of New Coke. They had entirely removed their classic version from the market.

“I would be less upset if you told me there was no God.”

“I would be less upset if you burned the US flag on my front lawn.”

Products (and our consumerism) mean more than basic life values or truth? Explains how we got to where we are today.

Sometimes by replying you make things worse. Nothing can be added that would make the argument look more silly than it was.

I did not like that New Coke at all, whatsoever. It was a major fail. I used to drink Coke, then Pepsi, then RC Cola. I would drink one for a while, then switch. I didn't like Dr. Pepper back then, but it grew on me. Later I preferred it, especially as I grew older. RC Cola is hard to find around here. I try and stay away from soft drinks these days so it isn't a big deal. I drink water, or hot tea. Now and then I drink coconut water with pulp. It is really good on a very hot day. Oh, I forgot coffee, gotta have a mug of coffee in the morning.

Now for me, I am a diet Coke addict. And yes, I can taste the difference between regular vs diet vs no sugar vs diet pepsi (the others are all waaaay too sweet).. I think the only advert that has ever made me "want to go out and buy one" IF I had the cash AND the desire to do so, would be the Subaru, with the golden retrievers.. The other greatest ad I saw was "I met him on Tuesday, I went out with him Wednesday. I went to bed with him Thursday. ......... Local Humane Society"

I guess I dont see the "alure" of commercials... I eat/drink/etc what I enjoy... if it tastes funny, smells off, looks wrong, I dont do it...
I will try lots of different things just to find out if its a new winner to be put on the list of goodies... but 86.3% of the time it doesnt make it.

there is this "thing" about human nature... if its new and exciting looking... its got to be kewl... therefore worth trying, this is what advertizers work off of, the new and exciting aspect.

Even after they brought Classic Coke back it still sucked. You have to get the "Mexican" Coke in the real glass bottles-it has real sugar in it, not corn syrup. I don't care what they say, there's a HUGE difference.

But it doesn't really matter for me anymore, since I stopped drinking any type of soda a few years ago for financial reasons I can no longer stand the taste of any of it. It all leaves a nasty sticky aftertaste and it's just gross.

As for cola, I enjoy a regular Pepsi with a pizza (if not a beer). And yes, bottles always were better than cans.

I hadn't heard of "Mexican" Coke until I lived in California for a little while. You're exactly right, it's a massive difference. Doggone stuff addicted me again for a little while. Now I don't drink it anymore and it does taste awful when you go back. At first anyway...

I went with the R&C, I needed the extra boost to deal with the family. It was also the annual consumption of fast food burger & fries - once on the drive out across NY and once again on the return trip. LOL.

Evening.. Stopped drinking colas a number of years ago. Now with fast food I have a Sprit or Serra Mist or water. Unless I'm at Wendy's. Then it's natural lemonade. Due to a fatality accident this morning I didn't get to work till 10:00. Just got home 15min ago...

Good Morning Army. Different doctor has me taking oral steroids (6- 5- 4- 3- 2- 1) and still rubbing creams on hands and feet. Really need to get my feet back. Left heel spit open and bled again overnight. This sucks.
Prescreen and appointment made for colonoscopy. Why is having a camera up your .... celebrated ? is the Medical Community making that much money off such a weird procedure ?
