One of the blessings of a sainted old age and living at this time is to have cataracts. I had them on both eyes and the world was getting fuzzy as well as increasingly yellow. They took off the cataract in one eye and put in a 'distance' lens. Later the second was removed and they put in a 'near' lens. It is great, I have never seen this well. The only time I wear glasses is to drive. They help my depth perception.

Ah, sainted old age has so many blessings, who can list them all?

That’s an excellent result you got. I have had a smallish cataract in my left eye since at least 2011. In the same eye there’s scarring from a chronic bout of uveitis. The scars prevent the pupil from expanding or contracting. Had to wait for the uveitis to be gone for 90 days before I could have surgery at which time they were going to remove the cataract. When the inflammation finally cleared up... I chickened out.

Everyone assured me it’s painless and quick. A little longer for the pupil issue, but still quick. The thought of having my eyelid propped open and seeing the needles, the laser... just couldn’t do it.

I went to an eye surgeon in CA a few years ago to finally have it done. He wanted to refer me to an even more specialized specialist because my eyes are blue/green and he didn’t trust his skill level on the pupil issue. Darker eyes would hide any potential error with the pupil. Dang! That made me chicken out again.

Older eyes have trouble seeing in the dark, as has been talked about here. It’s even harder with one pupil unable to open at all to let more light in.

I’ll get it done one day. Probably if/when the cataract gets worse or I get one in the other eye.

My memory sucks too because I forgot that we did talk about kimchi! That can be pungent enough that we’ve wrapped it up in a plastic bag even to store it in the fridge. I’ll let you know how the sauerkraut is for sure.

Ground mustard is awesome! I use it a lot too. Most commercial mustard is pretty rough. Too much vinegar in some, too much sugar in others. I found some on sale last week that won the gold in their category in this year’s Napa Valley Mustard Festival. It has whole mustard seeds in it. Very balanced flavor. Inglehoffer Sweet Hot Mustard. Turns out a lot of mustard is grown around the vineyards because it’s a natural insect repellant and attracts some type of fly that eats pests that invade vineyards. Also mustard is great for the soil.

Making your own mayo! Not that easy to do. I don’t like mayo that much but I might if I could make it fresh.
Maybe that's the problem.. I've only ever had commercial mustard. I'll look up the brand you mentioned. My fam will use it if I don't. (ETA: Walmart has it, put it on my order:))
If you own a stick blender, fresh mayo is easy. I've never had it fail. Let me know if you do and I'll PM you the recipe I use.
David the magnets are beautiful. How do you attach the knob to the magnet?

Bad news.. Scruffy slipped out the door with out my seeing him. Spotted him out the window but quick as I got out there he was gone. Been calling and using one of his toys to make noise. But he's not coming. I'll keep looking and just have to hope he can find his way back when he gets hungry. :(

Sending prayers and mojo for him to come home soon.

Cats can get scared of noises and might hide from you. Is the weather dry enough for you to put some of his dirty litter box out by the door? I've heard from other people with missing cats that it helps the cat find his way home from the smell.

Found him!!! I set the litter box out side. Came back in and looked out the side window and saw him step through the fence next door. Took two food cans out to tap together. That got him to come close enough for me to grab him and bring him in. Then I brought the litter box in and as soon as I set it down he used it. Guess he didn't know he could pee outside.. I gave him a can of food which he isn't eating. He's checked things out and is now in the chair cleaning himself. :) He does look like he's happy to be back inside...

What? I just went for a walk..

David, I bet he did not go too far. I hope he comes meowing at the door very soon.

I figured he was close by. To much for him to check out. A dog on the other hand would have been blocks away in 5 minutes.. I also put a temporary block on the storm door to keep him from doing it again. I'll make a permeant fix later.
