My meager potato & shallot harvest would make @PapawBrett LOL himself silly. I started too late and it got very hot too early. Gonna try again by planting later this month. In SoCal, it’s Feb or Aug for spud planting.

My harvest gave me a good amount of seed potatoes. Also gave me lunch today! These are russets and some of the shallots. The texture is creamy like Yukons and the flavor is great.

But the music.....she had an incredible voice/range. Sad that she can no longer sing a note.
I grew to like her songs later but at the time she coulda sang all she wanted but her face was too big of a distraction to notice. :)

My Dd has over productive zucchini plants. She made 14 loaves of zucchini bread and is trying to give more zucchini away. Lots of summer squash and cucumbers also. Tomatoes are catching up now.

Nice! Zucchini didn’t do well here for the folks who usually give us some. Is this late for tomatoes in her area? It’s been a low yield year here and for my aunt in PA.

We've gotten quite a few cherry tomatoes and the big ones are just getting red now. Pretty normal for the first part of August.

Evening...Well I spent 4+ hours getting paid to watch Science Channel on my phone. I was waiting on a wreaker to bring a truck to switch with me. And the day was going really well... Just one more day.

I’m no mechanic, but that sure looks like a rather important part on the ground there.

That would be the drive shaft. Started to shake the truck really bad then bang. Followed by my quick move to get to the shoulder and stop. I knew it was not going to be good.

Not to be overly-dramatic, but your skill and experience saved a lot more damage and possibly lives today. Well done. I’m glad the worst thing that happened was the 4+ hr wait.

The u-joint looks totally intact. Did the carrier bearing fail? Odds are that driveshaft is trashed. Hopefully tranny/rear end isn't mangled.

I think it might have. The shaft is twisted off. The shop thinks it'll need a new rear end. But Cooperate will have to make the decide if it's worth doing. It's a 2013 so it may just get retired as is.

Ouch. I thought your truck was newer than that. Is it in good shape otherwise?

About as good as can be expected with a lot of different people driving it.. I don't always get the same truck. First time I drove that one in awhile or I may have noticed the problem before it got to the breaking point.. I had planned to put it out of service when I got back to the yard. So it cold be checked. It just didn't hold up that long...
