Lots of people eat squirrel.
Lots though? Some do. Maybe not “lots.” :)

Back in PA I knew this guy. Whenever he accidentally hit a critter while driving, he’d say, “The Lord has provided!” And he’d take it home for his freezer. He listed his freezer’s contents for me once. I made a mental note never to accept an invitation to dine with his family.

I grew up in rural GA and yes we ate squirrel and rabbit. I went squirrel hunting with my father when he had to carry me on his shoulder. Now, I wouldn't eat any of that.

We had a red tick hound dog that was trained to go out and find squirrels, tree them and howl. So my dad never had to do much work, just turn red out and wait.

You’re a fascinating lady, Rose! It really is whatever we are accustomed to. We eat hot dogs without knowing — or wanting to know — what’s in there.

A few years back I read about people surviving in extreme conditions. If all they have available is rabbit, they can starve while feeling full. Has to do with the lack of fat in the meat.

I don't eat hot dogs, lol. Kielbasa, yes but regular hot dogs noooo. I remember eating that potted meat stuff in cans, I think it was called deviled ham or something until I found out what was in there.

I remember that stuff! I don’t eat hot dogs either. Early in the pandemic, someone gave us most of a case of Vienna Sausages. Like 10 or 11 cans. We set them aside in case shortages got really bad. We still have them and no one wants any! Can’t give them away. LOL
