I can't watch scary movies. I was traumatized as a child by my bio mom. She would have us watch them with her.

Ugh.

Still remember this one scene.... ugh

I was always reasonably sensitive when I was a kid. Never watched shows like twilight zone, had to be removed from my English class in high school because the assigned reading was Steven King short stories, and I couldn't get through the first one without nightmares and having to sleep with my parents.. lol.. so my parents had to pull me out of class for that segment..

But oddly, I have always been able to read or watch true crime, but when it comes to scary movies or books I can never handle them.

For some reason the first time Joy Ride came out, I could sit through it, it scared me but by then I was older (my kids were teenagers by then) ... it was good because it was more a thriller than a horror movie, and had a moral.. For the first time I didn't have nightmares.

I haven't watched a scary movie since then though, and that was a long time ago. I thought tonight since nothing else was on I'd go ahead and watch it again.. for some reason now it seems scarier than it did the first time.

Maybe not having the kids laughing at my abject terror and being alone in the house makes it worse. Lol.. don't know. My kids always made fun of me for not being able to watch things that were scary though.. so they kind of kept me grounded through the movie.

Reading I can do. Just speed read through the suspenseful parts.

I can't watch thrillers or horror. I get panic attacks.

Aunt Ida's still hanging in there. My mom heads over tomorrow and her son from Delaware comes in tomorrow night. I'm going to head out on the 18th. Whatever happens I'll be helpful and that will make me feel better.

Going to check in with my cousin shortly to see how she's holding up.

Thanks for the love and prayers.

April I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt Ida. Prayers for your whole family.

Been in PC hell today. Long story. Not in the mood to discuss it. Fake trojan...I THINK. I'd like to throttle the joker who did it.

Oh, BK and Retic...just heard y'all are having some flooding issues in a big way. Keep us up to date, and let us know you are okay.

No flooding by us , BK and I are in the suburbs the city proper had issues , pumps weren't turned on and heads are rolling in NOLA because of it . Too bad you aren't closer to us , I'd set you up with a Linux installation , no more pc BS.

Good Morning Army. I was the last truck in yesterday, and they were a load short on the list. I was asked what did I want to do ?
"Well, the Ravens are playing and tomorrow is Friday. How about I take the day off ?"
So I slept in until 5, and now I am easing into first coffee. Life is Good.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

Have you been around long enough to remember Creature Features late on Saturday night?

Hoping your beloved Ravens don't sign Kaepernik.

    Mornin'

Today's donuts came with music by Mr. Bullfrog-- I don't know if that's his real name, or just a stage name. A pair of crows joined in later to sing a duet. We had a heavy rain and hail storm yesterday, so the lake had a mysterious mist hovering over the water.

On the way up to the lake, I had to wait for an ambulance running full code. I heard other sirens in the background as well. Please send up a little prayer and good thoughts for the passenger in the back that he got the help needed and will be back with his people soon.
