Well gosh I'm glad i checked in with my stepbrother. He evacuated (Apollo beach) and he's at his inlaws. They only had enough board and time to board up the one largest window.

That's one of the worst things about this beast : no one on the west coast had any inkling she would change paths and come roaring after them! No time to food shop, board up, gather water or batteries, etc. :(

As Kkay said, if The Witch decides to wander west again into the Gulf, ALL bets are off. 'Canes get really unpredictable when caught in that large bowl of bath water. She could even come back east! (She already this morning decided to make the weather people "liars" by heading due north off the Cuba coast, rather than going WNW like a good little hurricane would; now her second landfall will be far farther south of Tampa than expected.)

Since the news is weather I went ahead and switched to the weather channel and I have to say, I'm glad I'm not a meteorologist.

These fool producers stick these guys outside in winds they can barely stand up in and film them trying to stand and talk at the same time. It's rather distracting as a whole, because all I think is that I'd up and quit. This guy is having such a hard time trying to stay standing that he has braced himself on a tree, and he is still out of breath just trying to stand..

Ridiculous. Let the man indoors at the very least.. why anyone wants to see this guy pelted with rain and then blown down the street is anyone's guess.

Prayers going out for all Floridians. Never get hurricanes on the west side, so I'm finding this one a bit shocking.

But I'm going to turn off the weather channel.. as I have no desire to see this man suffer any longer. He should quit and go inside. :(

good thing they dont do the same thing when buildings are on fire....
camera man: yeah stand over there and let the flames crawl up your leg... and dont dance around so much yelling... no one can understand you... and dont cough alot either .... ;)

as you can tell ... I got my internet back :)
the cable leading to the modem was kinked so bad it broke the center conductor and was making a poor connection...
the cable repair guy was confoosed beyond belief... he said there was a good connection ( his meter said so) but the modem was still wacking out ( signal was too weak to get it to work correctly) I mentioned the bent coax and he finally decided to check it out ( after 15 minutes of persuasion) a splice was installed and WALA!! internet... :)

Checking in. Classy lost power last night. I've been out since just after dinner cleanup yesterday.

Went to bed early so now I'm up waaaaay too early. Wind is still gusting but not sustained. There are now tiny lulls. Rain seems to have stopped for the night.

I have forgotten my password for ECF so can't get on with my phone. The little sleep I did manage has recharged my brain. I'm now hooked up to my iPad through my iPhone's hotspot.

Just gotta figure how to keep these things charged. LOL.

SO, good morning Army. ;)

Good morning to you!

So glad you all are okay and doing well! (Power notwithstanding) take it easy on what charge you have, in case of emergency. I'm sure you'll find a way to charge your stuff soon enough..

Glad to hear the storm is subsiding over there for you.. :)

Hang in there our Florida friends. Looks like it's taking aim on Naples now.
Thanks bronze......we got extremely lucky here in sarasota, it kind of went right around us (the eye anyways). I have family in ft. Lauderdale, west Palm beach, and Melbourne and all of them got it worse then us....even though we were closer to the eye, it wasn't that bad and we never lost power....10 hrs before the storm we thought we were gonners

Vapdivrr, I had forgotten you were in FL! Glad you are okay!

Robin glad to hear you and Classy are okay. I haven't seen Eleanor check in. Jose is still on the way, so it isn't over. Florida is so lucky that Irma fizzled like it did. It is a Tropical Storm now, I read. If you are fine, I imagine Eleanor is too. I will feel better when she checks in.

April, how are your parents?

Hemingway's six toed cats at the Hemingway House are all safe and sound, I read. I worried about them too.

Looks like the keys and southwest FL got the worst hammering. By all accounts and including what Diver is saying (thanx for checking in) the Tampa area dodged their worst fears, The surge, rain, and wind forecasts were all less than what was feared in that part of the state. Things are still ripped up though with flooding and damage and power loss. Not hearing of any mass casualties yet. My Jacksonville friends lost power but that was about it. No major wind or water damage where they live (except along the St. John's River). Got some friends in the panhandle who seem to be none the worse for wear either. I suspect it will suck being without power for any length of time. I know we went a week without power here after an ice storm. Was a pain in the ..... Especially when it's cold outside. :)

Afternoon......Glad everyone is okay.....Got called off today. I'm guessing due to the storm as most of our FL. and a couple GA. locations are closed or on limited operations. I'm guessing things may be a little slow this week as the storm moves north dumping a lot of rain as it goes.
