@LAwaters My cuisinart coffee maker died this week so that cappuccino looks divine!
I opted for a French press. I questioned myself tho.. I really like my coffee ready when I wake up... But so many friends swear the French press makes the most amazing coffee.. It arrives Monday.
Oh, I have a backup travel size coffee maker. Not doing without, that's for sure!
We can tell you’re not doing without. You’re still cheery!
Mmmmm, French press coffee! That’s my every day version since 2005. Never looked back. I did invest in a conical burr grinder by Caspresso. Almost 14 yrs later both have had daily use, sometimes multiple times a day and never been replaced.
Here’s my hot tips for mind-blowing French press coffee.
1) Pour your hot water over the grinds and try to get some water on all of them. I make a circle around them to get them all.
2) Let it sit like that without the lid for at least 1 full minute.
3) Stir the grinds into the water for 30 seconds. Steps 2 & 3 help to release carbon dioxide from the beans. This minute and a half makes all the difference!
4) Put the lid on without plunging. Just let the mesh sit on top of the grinds and water.
5) Wait 7 minutes. Then plunge.
Even people who don’t normally drink coffee rave about it when it’s made like this. I do
buy good whole beans from Coffee Bean. Their Bali blend is incredible. I order it online. It’s not the cheapest, but I love my coffee!
Hmmm.. french press huh? thats a high maintainence coffie maker... you will need to wake up a 1/2 hr earlier to have your coffie
Despite those steps listed above, I don’t find it to be high maintenance. The French press is easier to clean and has fewer parts to break down.
Takes me only about 10 minutes till I’m pouring my coffee. That includes the time to grind the beans.
