He had a rough day at the office.Aww . . . somebody's getting a nap in before dinner!![]()
So I finished the drawings for the catio. It’s gonna be 3’ x 8’ x 7’ (high). I’ll add some shelves n walkways on the inside. It’ll have access to/from the living room window via cat flap. Headed for Home Depot tomorrow to get materials so I can start cuttin tomorrow. I learned I can open a window 6” and he’ll lay in front of it looking out for hours at a time. He likes listening and smelling the outdoors as much as looking. I’m pretty sure he will like the catio. Probably not as much as me though.
I’ve gone back n forth a dozen times on the make vs buy. Making doesn’t really save much $$ but I decided to make because I’m unsure of the quality of those purchased catios. Seems I’m disappointed more than not when I buy stuff like that. Don’t need the thing blowing off my deck in a nasty NC storm.Sounds perfect! I thought your last decision was to buy instead of build, but you aren’t usually that guy.
Can’t wait to see pics.
You're a better man than I, Gunga Din. I would have given up on that wretched beast a week ago.So I finished the drawings for the catio. It’s gonna be 3’ x 8’ x 7’ (high).

Yeah, I’m pretty confident he will use it. I think he’ll spend a lot of time in it. Hoping it will satisfy his outdoor urges. I like the idea he can come n go as he pleases. That is exciting! I cannot wait to see the catio when it’s finished...with him using it!
Yes, there is satusfaction in building your own. No doubt. On the other hand, there are times I’d just rather be done with it. And especially when you have an 11 pound pest who wont leave me alone.Good point. It’s funny — after he retired my grandfather liked to build rather than buy just for the pleasure of making it himself. Then he’d give his creation to someone and say all he could see were the mistakes he made on it. He kept building though. The fun was in the process.
