@Bunnykiller is right about tobacco extracts. I’d also say that Heather has never been one to tinker with a great flavor intentionally. Some vendors might mess with a good thing just for the sake of tinkering — or “improving” — their product. Never Heather. Instead, she would create another flavor! That’s why there’s 89 different flavors in the HHV lineup. :)

My educated guess is that an ingredient was no longer available, or some ingredient vendor changed something in the base or flavoring.

Next, because we were required by law to register ingredients and because no new products are allowed without prior FDA approval (PMTA) after 8/8/16, it would be illegal to change a single thing about a single product. Any change to any ingredient would make it a new product under FDA regulations.

Therefore, even if Heather *could* go back to the old way of making those flavors, it would be illegal for her to do so.

It’s uncertain right now whether they can even get the ingredients for current flavors.

This might be true in the last 5-7 years but before 2014 it was all over the place.

Hmmm... no there absolutely was ‘tinkering’. Tinkering has negative connotations. I wouldn’t call it tinkering but perhaps inadvertent or uncontrollable changes. After Gandalf became Legend it changed completely in flavour and then successive batches of Legend were all different to each other within the space of a year or two. Then it turned into a slightly sweet chocolatey NeT without the flavours sometime around 2014 and there was a lot of discussion about it. Serendipity had different permutations as well.

Maple Eh became the new Huntsman, huntsman lost its maple element.

the one anomaly is Dragons Fire. It never changed! I was surprised in my last order how Dragons Fire tasted the way it did several years ago. As a side note that confirms my taste buds haven’t changed over the years.

HHV is the Creed Aventus of vaping lol
There is an absolutely dedicated group of perfume lovers who chase old batches of Creed Aventus because no two batches are the same.

The flavour reviews on the forum illustrate how much the juices changed.

it might be the case that there are processes and flavours out of the control of HHV. I enquiries about the changes in the purity line around 2016 I think it was. The sales rep who responded to me said that HHV gets it flavours from a supplier and they don’t have control of those flavours.
I don’t know what that means. Don’t know if that means that they have a mixer to mix the concentrates that then HHV adds to their NETS or one of the generic brands of flavour concentrates manufactures changed their own processes.

Inawera had some changes for the worst in some of their awesome tobacco concentrates about 3 or 4 years (including their cherry tobacco concentrations) and any juice vendor using Inawera concentrates would have had distinct changes to some of their juices and would had no control in avoiding their juices changing in flavour profile.

The diketones issues also affected certain flavours as the flavour concentration houses either changed the chemistry in some of the their concentrates or added V2 lines of popular concentrates.

I’ll do that tonight. Maybe... I’m a little scared! Lol

and good to see you Gary!
Good to see you too April . Eh nothing to be scared of , I tried one of Clay's nets that had gone south that way , confirmed what my nose was telling me so I tossed it . Not enough on your fingertip to make you sick , if it smells good to begin with very likely it is good . The smell was off on the net that went bad .

@AnthonyB if you figure out the original PB I might be tracking you down . That was my favorite. Good luck!

how good was it! I think it was my single most memorable vape experience in 12 years of vaping. Pirates Booty was my Ratatouille moment.

In 2013 I wrote this this after trying HHV and Pirates Booty for the first time:

I recently got my first ever order of HHV. I ordered all the tobacco flavours and some sampler sizes of the fruits and dessert vapes. I have got to say, these juices are impossibly good. Heather’s ‘Heavenly’ Vapes lives up to the namesake. These liquids are divine and what makes them special is that I can’t make a reference to tobacco or food when trying to make sense of the flavours. They are more like a flavor from some fabled place or out of a fairy tale. Vaping these juices make me feel like I am in a sort of heavenly realm. I don’t think these juices (from what little I’ve tried) are for ardent, connoisseurs of tobacco though I don’t doubt that even that category of vaper would love these juices.

I can see why HHV juices have wide appeal.

So far I have only tried Heavenly Army and Pirates Booty. I am in love with both! I vaped Pirate’s Booty in a normal atty and couldn’t stop vaping it. Ever feel like a juice reminds you of something, a reference, place or item? Well vaping this juice really did make me feel like I was sitting on some kind of pirate’s treasures of spice, sugar and tobacco.

Heavenly Army gave me that ‘wow, this is food of the gods’ feeling. These flavours are ethereal. I haven’t even gotten as far as trying Legend and Serendipity and the many others I have purchased but this juice alone stopped me in my tracks and redefined vaping flavours for me. I ran it in my mini nova and it bought out the wonderful complex rich flavours both bold and subtle. Looking forward to trying it in my AGA T2.

I tried Dark Horse in my AGA T2 but I can't figure it out yet. Maybe it needs further steeping or perhaps there is flavour creep left over from the previous liquid. It's clear which is interesting given it's called dark horse and has some pipe tobacco flavours along with burleys and others in it as described by the site. Whatever it is, it still tastes damn good!

Might have to give that Legend and Serendipity a try..”

Wow! Really really incredible. Great job! He looks right at home and happy to be surveying his kingdom. He’s gonna love it when some critter tries to get too close and he can just dart back inside.

Impressive design and speedy construction. Applause! Applause!

I zoomed in trying to see where the stairs are in there. Also attempting to see how you’ve anchored it to keep it from the hurricane winds.

LAwaters, I just realized you are a supplier associate. Oops. I may have tailored my response slightly different lol

    I am a gentle soul, really :)

No worries! You clearly have a passion for the flavors and I respect your knowledge.

I’ve been working with Adam & Heather since early in 2014. I was responsible for all of their FDA filings. Working so closely with them, there are things you get to know. They are both quite passionate and precise people, especially about HHV which has been true joy for them. Legend, for example, is by far the biggest seller and has been key to HHV’s popularity. They are pretty unlikely to have intentionally messed with any ingredient. That’s true for all of their NETs. I do know Heather has changed some fruit flavors in the past when she found a better, more authentic flavoring and the result was great.

She really has missed being able to create new recipes.

With all that said, I’m not being coy about the facts behind the changes — which story Bronze has regaled us with many a time. ;)

I simply haven’t ever asked them what happened back then and that’s why mine is an educated guess. I know a lot about HHV, but I don’t know that. :D
