I had the need to install MS Office for the usage of Excel back in Nov to do taxes in Windoze 10... so, I had to purchase the "rights" to use it which consisted of spending 7$ a month... back in Feb. my card that the funds were being pulled from got compromised so I shut down the card... well Feb 26th came around and MS went to pull the 7$ and couldnt and they immediately sent me a note saying they need their money... okay Ill get to it... eventually. I sent in the stop usage of Office to quit being charged for something I wasnt using ... I was charged for Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, a total of 28$ for one days usage back in Nov, figgured I didnt need it any more... I ended up getting a reminder note from MS to pay the fee every other day via email. About 03-01-21 I was getting blue screens of death about 5 times a day and it happened every day, the puter would just shut down and restart but before it shut down a blue screen showed up telling me there was a problem and it was gathering info... once it hit 100% the puter would shut down and reboot. This was a daily thing and I did my best to find out what was doing it, I even did a refresh windoze, did a reset from a saved point, even found a tool that would tell you what went wrong when it crapped out and it told me no issue that it was "an unexpected shutdown"... On Thurs I got a new card and payed the 7$ that was "overdue"... and guess what... the blue screen of death hasnt happened since the payment got processed.. 2 and a 1/2 days has gone by and not a single blue screen compared to several occurances each day while I owed the 7$.... is it just a coincedence that my puter fixed itsself the day the bill got payed? or do you think MS would be nasty enuf to mess with the puter?? just odd really odd.. Im still sitting here waiting for a Blue screen to happen so I can say it wasnt MS being involved but my gut feeling tells me it was MS doing it

what do yall think about this??
I'm not allowed to say in a civilized forum, but my opinion backs up everything I've ever believed about the MS monster since the day it was born. Anyone else remember that Gates was called the Antichrist way back when, because the potential for everything going on today was too easily imaginable?

Oh No! Wha's a glowie? Having asked that and seeing Seuss blocked but certain horrifying creatures on the Emmys lauded for being the scrapings at the bottom of a bucket of filth, maybe I'm better off not knowing.

well its been another 12 hrs that has gone by and no blue screens have occured... 2 days ago I would have had at least 2 of them in that time period...
Im really starting to believe MS had something to do with the blue screens happening..

A highly generous view of this would have to do with whether you removed o365 and the “genuine” copy check that MS has done in the background for years. It would be possible (still being generous here) that the routine that checks their server in the background was corrupted and causing the crash.

The fact is that every single device we own can easily be bricked by the manufacturer or the OS.

I am reminded of Morpheus asking Neo:

“You think that’s air you’re breathing?”

I saw an interview with Mr. Gates that occurred some time just before the pandemic. When he was asked about his investments in vaccines, his affect became “off” and with misplaced smiling he said, “Let’s face it, vaccines are highly profitable. Nothing else today can get you that kind of return.” Then he laughed.

He is also invested in lab grown meat.

And he is now the owner of the majority of the farmland in the US. Particularly in the Midwest. I don’t know whether that means he owns most of it, or whether he owns a higher percentage of it than anyone else.

I’ve never forgotten his quote from a Time magazine feature back in the heyday of MS. It was along the lines of, “Obviously, I know that the universe was not created for me. But some days it sure feels like it was.”

I don’t begrudge anyone wealth. Good for you if you have it. But using it for tyrannical purposes is a whole ‘nuther thing. Not even gonna start on Bloomberg and his crew...

A "glowie" is a Fed informant who is introduced into a group of people who are suspected (rightly or wrongly) of Wrongthink, in order to incite and/or inform on them. Some reportedly stick out like sore thumbs, however (since our government is awesomely incompetent) such that they practically "glow in the dark." Hence the classic jokes about .... groups and militias having "20 members -- including 5 FBI and 12 ATF agents."

Gates has turned into a freaking Bond villain. WTH is it with billionaires??

Gates is also an enthusiastic Malthusian, who has long sought to de-populate most of the planet. Uber creepy, and dangerous!

Just a reminder... Prohibition has never worked. Many people are doing DIY and many others are set to do it. vaping has been around too long for them to think they can stop it. There're many things they have tried to stop in the past and have failed. They will fail at this as well. Yes it's going to be bad for a time. But history has proved that the people will fine a way to sidestep the idiots in DC...

Yes I'm being optimistic, But that's how I look at things. Years ago I did things we can't talk about here. But I found a way to do them. I just know I turn 65 tomorrow and I have long since stop caring what DC does. If the people that have truly given up tobacco with the help of vaping wish to stay free of it they will find a way to keep vaping... DC be damned...

I haven't commented on this subject till now. So this is just my 2 cents on the matter...

I agree for two reasons. One, vaping is a good thing. Two, enough people will want it. That’s pretty hard to stop. Yes, the govt can make it hard for us. But eventually the people will win out. When, I don’t know. But eventually.

Happy Senior Citizen birthday tomorrow. :)

Gates has one skill. He creates near monopolies resulting in the crushing all of his competition. He is, was and always will be a gangster in a nice sweater. Al Capone had nothing on Bill.

If we need to find a new meetup place because ECF isn’t available to us, I will set up a forum for us and host it on one of my business servers. That way, we can keep it secure, we can set the rules, there won’t be any ads and we can still say hello to each other and keep in touch on thread(s) or via private messages. We can all have our current user names too. :)

As thread secretary here, You can PM me your contact info if you want. I’ll keep the master list and keep it private.

I know nothing about them. How does one acquire it?

Both are free, so the simple answer is that you download and install. The harder part is configuring a secure server. Then there’s the design and configuration so it looks and works the way you want it to.

They can be installed in a local computer but you have to install something like Apache and PHP and MySQL on your computer so it can work like a server.

Yeah, that’s the ticket.

I was gonna ask what the pros n cons of you hosting a forum but I think I’ll read a Chinese textbook instead.
