We bought a 41” tall child gate that arrived today. The idea was to keep the cat in the room and the Rottweiler out of it so we can open the door for airflow. Gets really hot and stuffy in here in summer.
Got it set up. He’s almost 13, not really active and mostly sleeps all day. How long do you think it took him to clear that gate? Uh huh. About 15 minutes flat. He grazed the top of it pretty good, but he made it.
So we’ve raised it 6” and blocked off the bottom. In the meantime, we tried (again) to introduce them to solve the whole dang problem. It was a blur of snarling, barking and running. And I have a new 3” cat scratch on my arm.
Pets are fun.

Poor Tigg!!!
I know. He was fine about it within a few minutes. The Rottweiler was on a leash and our friend had a firm hold. Tigg had a clear escape path. It’s probably not going to work to get them to coexist peacefully. We just let him have the run of the house when the dogs are outside. That’s as close to happy coexistence as we can get.
At least the gate is high enough now that he doesn’t seem to be able to jump it.

Damn squirrels chewed a new hole in my soffit. Different location. I meshed it up. Think I'm gonna have to borrow my neighbor's 22 and start blasting every squirrel I see. I'm sure I'll ultimately get the two clowns doing all the damage. I don't generally kill animals but I have my limits. Holes in my house call up my inner Elmer Fudd.
I was wondering about the squirrel situation. Now I know. Sheesh! Those are some determined little jerks.
Afternoon.. Well I got my stuff done... Went to the store early and did part of my shopping. Brought that home then took my truck to the dealer for a service. After that I did the rest of my shopping.. Was going to wait to mow the yard but the forcast is calling for rain tonight. So i got that done. Time for beer and some food.

Yup, when the cute wildlife starts costing real money to keep them around you have to consider the losses.... a few squirrels or a few hundred dollars each spring and fall... now if you could find a way to charge rent and they actually paid in real money...

Good luck to you, General. Squirrels seem to be a plague here on The BT. Does the Army have any snipers?
If you have a link to that stainless screening that you bought, could you send it to me? I meant to order some but lost the Amazon link.

You can get some galvanized hardware cloth at Home Depot. That’s what I just used with this latest hole.
An hour and a half, I am going to assume that it is already paid for or you would have left long ago.
