Why Bronze works on his own cars when he can (confirmed):
Brought Bleep into Mr. Tire this morning for a front end alignment and state inspection. Obviously, I do not have the equipment or authorization do either of these jobs. While looking over the Bleep, the tech noticed antifreeze around the engine compartment. Of course he did. It was the residual from when I fixed the coolant system last week. Very observant of him. He removed the radiator cap to check the coolant level. Checked out good...of course, because I just fixed it. But he did tell me there was a small leak at which time I told him I fixed it and he was just seeing residual antifreeze. I get home and decide to check the coolant level because it's something you should do a couple times after repairing the coolant system. I look and the thing is leaking like a pig around that filler neck I replaced. My initial thought is I screwed something up or the damn thing cracked again. Look, look, look and see it's coming out of the radiator cap. Screw it down, leak gone. The mechanic did not screw the cap down all the way!! Had I not decided to check the coolant level I would have undoubtedly received a phone call tomorrow with a hysterical woman on the other end saying her car is overheating again. Filled the reservoir back up with coolant. Rinse and repeat.
And this is why I work on my own vehicles if at all possible.
