While crawling thru the crawlspace yesterday testing various coaxial cables, I ran across a long box labeled "Car Ramps". I actually bumped into it. It was a bit heavy. I sat there resting my knees for a minute and thought about it. I have a set of car ramps but they're shelved in my garage. Second, I was given those car ramps and they did not come in a box. Hmmmm, what's in that box? Another pair of car ramps I didn't think I had? Actually, I've seen that box previously and thought that was the box for my truck ramps (ramps that allow you to drive tractors up to your truck bed). But I always thought it was an empty box. I never smashed my knee into it before. Hmmm. So I tore into the box and there was another box inside of it. It was my tent I bought 33 years ago and had looked for extensively over the years and never found. I'll be danged! I wrote it off as stolen. The mice got to the box so I have a feeling when I go to pitch the thing I'm gonna find mouse holes in it. We'll see. I might have to do the other pitching to it. Then again, what difference does it make? I'm too old for camping anyway. Maybe CMD could use it for when Mrs CMD tosses him out of the house after he does something stupid. Though, he likely made himself a permanent structure for that long ago.

My current thinking is to purchase a motor home, with a dish, AC, the works. I may see if I could get a little of Joe's free money to aid with the purchase, there seems to a lot of it blowing in the wind. It would be a worthwhile "stimulus" to the economy.
As I age, acting foolish becomes increasingly frequent. It would be nice to have mobility as well as a pleasant refuge as I weather the storm of disapproval. I may get that baby super-charged for a fast get-away when I have really crossed the line. Be prepared!

So after all that farting around with the coaxial cable it boiled down to a bad connector on one end of the cables. Put on a new one and my living room TV is now connected to the attic antenna. I have 29 high quality channels. I think I get more at night. I’ll have to check. Also gonna see if I can split the antenna so I can hook up the tuner to it also. David, have you tried that yet? Been a long long long time since I’ve fiddled with antennas. I should be able to split it. Not sure how much it impacts the signal. Maybe if I split it 4 or 5 times.

Nice to have over-the-air TV for when the power gets knocked out.

The RV idea is a good one when you do something really stupid and Mrs CMD tosses you off the property, not just the house.

No I've never tried to split the antenna cable. You can use the same splitter the cable company uses..

I don’t have one of their splitters but I have a few of my own from who knows where. Old but they should work. I’ll try it tomorrow and check back in.

I have unused coaxial cables running all over the place in the crawl space. I have no idea what they were used for. Add the half dozen I use for cable and a couple more for internet and it’s a real mess. I have most of them labeled. There’s one hooked up to the cable splitter that I have no idea where it goes. Neighbor probably patched into it.

    Alas! Has always been so.

At 19, I worked in an orthodontists’ office along with 11 other females. Two of them despised me and wanted me fired soon after I got the job. I was called into a lunch meeting with one of the doctors and the whole staff. All but two of my co-workers joined in on the “fun” of building a case against me. Then I was asked to give my defense. It helped that some of the errors had been made before I was even working there. I owned my errors and quietly affirmed that I had a lot to learn.

Women can be utterly horrible to each other.

Later that week I tried to quit. Instead, the doctor insisted I give him time. A few months later they were almost all fired and I was promoted to office manager hiring all of their replacements. :)
I didn't get to be an executive chef by being a nice guy . At one point I was sous chef / saucier in a 4 star Italian ristorante that was pushing for 5 stars . I was loud , blunt and vulgar . Gordon Ramsay would've blushed at some of the things I said . I spared no one , male or female . No time for BS , no room for errors on anyone's part , zero tolerance , shooting for perfection period . At one point a waiter from Algeria decided to give me grief , that was his first mistake , his second mistake was not getting the hell outta of the kitchen when I told him to , his third mistake was not running fast enough . I grabbed him by the collar and threw him through the screen door at the back of the kitchen . Actually took the whole door down frame and all , then told him he was fired and he better leave the property . Next morning the chef/owner asked me what happened to the door . Told him I threw a waiter through it . He just laughed and said ya gotta do what ya gotta do . Anyway we got the fifth star . The Chef called me in to the dining room , showed me the rating and the article also ranked me as the number one saucier in the city of New Orleans , best soups and sauces in the city . We cracked open a bottle of Dom Perignon and salut . Worth a screen door and a knot on a waiters head IMO .

Speaking of forums, I visit our neighborhood website (Nextdoor, a collection of neighborhoods in the area) now and again to get the latest goings on. Lots of requests to find lost pets. One lady got on and asked if anyone saw her lost cat. Typical post. And inevitably there are always mother hens who hop on and lecture everyone about not allowing your pets to wander. They cite laws and provide bullet point lists of the hazards of wandering cats. I find it hilarious. Especially when I give them smartazz replies and get them riled up.

Ohhhh I thought it was only me doing that. LOL

It's so international, we have many community FB pages here for this too. Same old story, a person posts re a missing cat or dog....oh the Karens who follow with the condensing, superior comments ha ha.
Sometimes I just can't help myself and do replies like you do. I mean come on people, lighten up

Exactly. The lady simply wants to find her cat. The last thing she needs is a lecture. You wanna lecture, do it on a separate thread. Either help the lady or shut up. I’m sure she knows all the pros and cons of outdoor kitties. It’s her cat, her choice. I have total faith she will make the right choices for herself and her pet.

I know, we have one local woman here, works for the local council, (say's it all) on every flaming school committee, all her kids sports is the treasurer, involved in everything that requires the use of a clip board and a biro pen! You get my drift. She wrote the most scathing (novel) to a poor distressed elderly lady who lost her cat recently and posted this on the missing pet page.Cat owner was so upset, very old and frail and this council b%$#h was hell bent on informing her of the deaths of the local Tui,by cats (New Zealand native bird) and how careless the cat owner was to allow this to happen (it had not). The poor old lady had just moved here! I just wonder what happened to these Karens with the clip boards, to make them so bitter and bossy? In my book happy folks do not make trouble for others.
