They don't make mechanics like they used to. Hubs had his own garage and was asked "Is that all?" by more than one customer.I work on my own vehicles because I'm in control. I never like giving my vehicle to someone else and then have to be at their mercy to:
1. do the work in a timely manner.
2. do it at a reasonable price (or what was agreed upon).
3. do the job right.
They haven't even started on my truck and they already broke the first two tenants. I brought my truck in Wednesday. They said they would have it done Friday. Even that is a long time for a 3 - 4 hour job. I'll be lucky to see it today and that's only because I'm bugging them. Then, he calls this morning and says it will be $765. He estimated it before I brought the truck in at no more than $650 with a chance to be less. So two pitches, two strikes. We'll see how good the quality of their work is when I get it back.
And this is why I work on my own vehicles.
Nope. The "mechanics" at dealers are computer readers. I found a good mechanic but their administration sucks. They both matter. The kid running the shop was in the military. He was a gun mechanic. I'm sure he was good at it. But he doesn't know how to run a shop. I entrusted my truck to the old timer who knows cars inside and out. They don't make mechanics like they used to. Yeah. The gulf coast got popped a good one.I hope to hear from our New Orleans friends. I heard all their transmission lines were broke. It said no electricity for maybe 13 days. I hope that they can get it on quicker than that. That is gonna stink big time.
Day 6 over. No truck. Day 7 tomorrow. A 3-4 hour job and they need a week.

I can understand a tranny taking some time. I only had a driveshaft issue. 3-4 hour job with a lift and proper press. I really like the mechanic a lot. Soneone you can trust will do good work. The rest of them suck.I had to be without my Tacoma for three days to get the transmission fixed. Every day felt like an eternity. My sympathies.
This week-long absence would bother me more than him jacking the price up! I hope the work is high quality and the wait is over very soon, Excellency.
He lies a lot.He looks so innocent. But do we buy it?
He is so adorable and looks so much like Song (at least to me) that he’d have me wrapped right around his little paws. I’d be putty in his paws I tell ya!

So I went and got a cheap OBD2 scanner for the Bleep so I can diagnose some of the basic things and read fault codes. Naturally I cant just use it like a normal person. I have to learn everything about it. That in itself is fine but then I have to go on and learn everything about OBD2 technology on You Tube which is quite vast. Next thing I know two hours have gone by before I ask myself, “Why are you wasting time watching crap you will never use?” So I turn it off. Sadly, I will probably watch more of it in the days n weeks to come or until I’m distracted by something else. Utter waste of time. But it is interesting.
The shop jackwagon’s latest lie is my truck we’ll be done by 8AM tomorrow. Sure it will.![]()
