I suffer from the same OCD Gotta Learn All There Is To Know affliction. Mucho wasted time.

But, hey… I know tons of useless information.

I am one of those who reads the intro then jumps to the Table of Contents or even the index. In that way, I gather a lot of information that I do not understand, waste a lot of time. And then, in frustration, I sit and read the manual, watch the movie and start over.
It has the one advantage of keeping me occupied far longer than necessary.

So I went and got a cheap OBD2 scanner for the Bleep so I can diagnose some of the basic things and read fault codes. Naturally I cant just use it like a normal person. I have to learn everything about it. That in itself is fine but then I have to go on and learn everything about OBD2 technology on You Tube which is quite vast. Next thing I know two hours have gone by before I ask myself, “Why are you wasting time watching crap you will never use?” So I turn it off. Sadly, I will probably watch more of it in the days n weeks to come or until I’m distracted by something else. Utter waste of time. But it is interesting.

The shop jackwagon’s latest lie is my truck we’ll be done by 8AM tomorrow. Sure it will.

I guess Bronze must be cruising around in his truck cuz he hasn't updated on the status of the repair....

So he changed out all three u-joints. Two were bad. He did not change out the center bearing like I asked. Apparently they don’t talk to each other over there. If you go thru the effort to pull the driveshaft out you may as well replace the center bearing too. Whatever. He did say the center bearing is fine. So the truck purrs again. Oh, and I almost signed the bill and then see they charged me $212 for the center bearing. Nope, he said he didn’t change it so the charge was taken off. Like I say, the office and the mechanic clearly do not talk to each other.

Phew! Busy couple weeks. Some promising prospects for work, so my daily bread continues to be supplied. The Lord is good.

I never wanted to have employees. But the one role I wish I had someone else for is quoting projects. It’s a painful process for me.

Do you under value your work? Always my problem, forty years, I doubt I ever charged what I was worth.
