Afternoon.... Sunny with a lot of wind. Looks like we're going to stay warm most of the week.... Been trying to read up on all of the Medicare plans.
Traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap insurance. It makes my brain hurt. But I'll figure it out...

Don't forget to check into plan G in your area-see if it works for you.
A link to check for an explanation:How Does Medicare Plan G Work? | Medicare & Medicare Advantage Info, Help and Enrollment
EDIT Note: Any site that does not end in .gov is not a government site-even if it has the name Medicare in it !

The spot where I plan to have it. Whoever of you has a backhoe, come on over and level this up for me, ‘kay? There’s baked goods in it for ya!

This is the government site to explain choices for medicare Your Medicare coverage choices | Medicare . Use it for general information to help decide what's better for YOUR situation.
Non government sites will always have links or information to contact THEIR agents which generally will be slanted to insurers they are sponsored by.
Medicare.gov will have a place to put your information in (the home button at top) (address , medications you take and so on ) and then recommend plans for your situation. You will need to make an account with them to do so- but you will be recommended unbiased options-you will be getting EXTREMELY BIASED options from an agent.

Finally not raining. (Although we needed all of it.) That means more garden prep. My seedlings are getting big and need to be planted!

New raised bed assembly in process. I’m on a break right now. Don’t quite have the endurance I used to have.

What’s that made out of?
It’s a Birdies Tall 8 in 1 bed. “Birdies original metal beds are made with 24-gauge cold-rolled galvanized steel with an Aluzinc coating 3x as thick as competing beds.”

Supposed to be 7x more resistant to rust than regular galvanized steel.

I haven't checked that yet but I'm going to. I did check a site for the State of Ohio which did give some info. The jest of what I'm reading is it depends a lot on what you need and on what you want your coverage to do. I've found plenty of sites that want you to call for a quote. Not going there. I'm signed up for Medicare already. I'm looking to sign up for the other parts while I'm still insured through work. This thing with my shoulder has me thinking I shouldn't wait.

Nobody showed with a backhoe. Turns out it was pretty close to level. All the rain we’ve had softened the soil. Normally, it’s like cement! Instead I was able to shovel easily. Then move a buncha wheelbarrows of our wood chip mulch from oak tree trimming that was done in Dec.

Next work is under the bed: laying out landscape fabric, then hardware cloth, then cardboard. Take that Mr Gopher!

I’ll fill the bottom of the bed with logs from the oak. Then low end soil. Good soil for the top half. I still have to install drip irrigation. And build a stronger cage around the bed than I had before. Fall winds ripped that one down! Gotta block them doggone squirrels!

I did the same(to cover existing conditions without being penalized)-switched to medicare about 8 years before I retired since it was so much better that company insurance.

I recently read an article about states going after the estates of people who passed away and who had used Medicaid. States can recoup the expenditure on their healthcare.
Well, medicaid is one of the most abused federal programs there is but why are they cracking down after they die instead of when they apply?

Agree. The article included a man whose wife passed away and then the state notified him that after he passes, they will take his house. At least they let him keep it for now, eh? But anyone wanting to leave their home to their heirs in a situation like that will be out of luck. I can see going after fraud, but property seizure after legitimate use of the program is going too far IMHO.
