Well popped in for one last time before the weekend....RJ congratulations on everything:laugh: :bday: On Sunday..and keep your son focused. Our daughter was very academic as well and when it comes to college scholarship help..lets just say it makes a big difference. Her older brother may never get his debt paid even with our help. As he's going through school encourage him to take all of the college courses he can. Those programs were just beginning when our daughter was in school and she reduced her 4yrs to 3 from classes she took throughout high school. OK... everyone have a great weekend and now I'm getting excited...

Yes-sirry, we were blessed to have our daughter get scholarships all through college - didn't cost us a dime!!! Coming from a low income family may have helped too. It's funny, compared to most Thai teachers, we get nearly 3 times what they start out at - but back home our salary is in the poverty level! :glare:

Anyway, having a smart kid does indeed help.

Thank you! And I enrolled in our state's prepaid college tuition program right after my son was born and pay every month...his college should be taken care of by the time he goes to college. That is, if the state keeps the program going...it almost went down the drain because those people don't know how to run a state much less a college program. Don't get me started! A scholarship would be nice...the college fund money would be a nice vacation for me. :D Or a head start on his life. Or, a vacation for me. LOL! :p Or both. Either way, his education is important to me.

You know I was thinking the other day. My son will be of driving age in 3 years (that means Momma has more freedom), his college will paid off in 5 years, my house will be paid off in 6 years, I will retire in 8 years. Dang do I see the light at the end of tunnel or what?!? I'm about to start the third year of a five year goal I set for myself. To have my hair all gray (almost there), my house in order with the basement cleaned out and everything pared down and organized (I got too much stuff!), get in better shape, save more money, etc...all before I'm 50. I've got three more years...and Momma is gonna have more fun! I need to date and get out more and go on vacations and get out there and do stuff and have more hobbies and have more fun. I'm excited about our future. ;) It's hard to do anything extra when I work a fulltime stressful job, and then come home and work my second shift at being a single Mom with my son and house and family. WHEW! Momma's getting stir crazy!

EDIT: And quitting smoking was on the top of my goal list. CHECK! Done. Yessiree Bob...

RJ, I'm a little older than you, so I've been standing in line longer than you, but I've got my finances pretty well in order, I've gotten in shape physically, and now I'm trying to simplify my life.

I would like to retire in about 5 years, and between then and now I'm planning on getting rid of a lot of the things in my life that require maintenance and attention. I want to be able to travel and just come and go as I please, and don't want a bunch of stuff to take care of (boats, lake house, motorcycles, etc.) hanging over my head like the Sword of Damocles.

Of course, I'll get all that done and then the day after I retire I'll probably slip on a banana peel. :D

YES! Simplify. That wraps up my entire goal in one simple word. I may not retire then, but it will be nice to just reach it ya know? I'll have to reevaluate along the way, but I like having clear goals. Life has been a blast but it also felt like a whirlwind. I'm ready to simplify and get on with it. We won't talk about banana peels...but I always say about the time I get my son raised my Mom and Dad will need me in their older years. But we won't talk about that. I also told my son to wait a while on the grandkids...Momma needs a break! I'd like at least five years to come and go as I please and let it be about me for a change. I just want downtime before the next stage of my life starts. We'll see...but it is exciting to think about the load lightening and me having some time for me. ;)

Sometimes I simplify too much. LOL When we moved to Philly, we simplified and got rid of a few things that we no longer needed. The place we moved into already had some things. Such as a bed, table and chairs, built ins to hold tv and books. Now that we've moved here we have to get bed, tv stand, bookshelf. the bedroom set will be delivered tomorrow and hubby will finish putting together the TV stand we got tonight.

I do like renting though. We don't have to sell a house to relocate. :D

If you don't use this....DO! Plex

I've got an e-sata enclosure that's shared through Win 8, and I use my WDTV to play stuff. Will Plex let me use the WDTV? Got a PS3 as well, but the "rights" issues led me to get a WDTV instead.

The Plex media server installs on your PC and you need a Plex client app on whatever your using to watch or listen with. Clients are available for PS3, Roku, AppleTV, LG Smart TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, Android, and iPhone. It won't connect with your WDTV but will to your PS3. Plex is amazing. With a Plex account (free) you can log in with any device and stream all your media even outside your network. You can also share libraries with other Plex users. I keep all my movies and music on my PC and stream everything in full HD to the HDTV downstairs. Plex is open source and free.

EDIT: For Bronze; VAPE VAPE VAPE, JUICE JUICE JUICE PIRATE"S BOOTY VAPE VAPE VAPE. YAAAAAY!
