It's been quiet around here... Anyone have fun plans for today? We are doing nothing, and that's a good thing.

My grandma has been back in the hospital (local) for a couple weeks now. They are just keeping her comfortable until the end. She is suffering, mostly mentally. She barely opens her eyes, says she sees double. She asks for family that is deceased. She's so ready to go. It's tough watching, but I'll go back for a visit today.

One of my closest friends is going dress shopping with her daughter, as she is going to be the freshman homecoming attendant. She invited me to go. My quick reply, God gave me sons for a reason, I think I'll pass! Watching those two argue over dresses all day does not sound like fun.

Football starts this week. JV and middle school on Tuesday, High School on Friday. I really need to get a 'football for dummies' book. My Dad nor my husband were/are fans, so I just don't get the game, positions, etc.

Hope you all have a great day off, if you get it.

Sorry about your Grandma. Sounds like you are visiting as much as life will allow. Good for you, I am not surprised.

I have two football players in my pride as well. It is crazy what the fall does to us, is it not?

Happy Labor Day :)

No special plans here. I think a nice drive sounds good. Check out new neighborhoods and a little bit of exploring would be fun. I'm sure the beaches will be crowded, going to stay away from them. LOL

Awww C'mon, Robin, won't you take a few Labor Day bikini shots for the group? Summer is nearly over....

Back steppin' a bit to get caught up...

Good Sunday Morning Army. Hope you are enjoying the vacation General. Congrats on 53k Chak :toast:. RJ, I have no idea on a 'break even' date, nor do I consider such a thing. I just know that I breathe, sleep and eat better without tobacco. That's enough of a gain of a me. Hope Everyone has a Safe and Blessed Sunday :)

Thanks, Papaw - I got tired of waiting for someone to post, so I snagged it.
I kinda keep an eye on expenses, but not too close an eye... ;)

Might have to try that with the lights out and a laser pointer should look wicked . The louisiana swamps at night get pretty creepy when the mist rolls in.

That would probably look cool as heck!

Heck I don't know what I was saying. I was in a after dinner and beer haze. Right after that I took a nice nap.

Been there, done that... :D

Love your take on it Papaw. I'm still keeping track of spending, but really you are so right.

My Dad always said, 'it's only money, and you can't take it with you when you go." (I'm sure this came from someone else):)

:toast: Here's to your wise old man.

Good Morning Army! Isn't it amazing how clean sheets and a freshly made up bed makes a better night's sleep? I slept like a rock.

Breaking even is important to me. This was supposed to be a cheaper addiction.

I've been buying these to get more light in my basement. In addition to these I'm changing all my lights down there to 100W equivalent compact fluorescents in the brightest type (natural daylight, most lumens). WOW! What a difference. It's an unfinished basement so now it looks more inviting and I can actually SEE down there!

After switching to warm yellow for a while, I'm thinking about going back to bright sunlight too - can't tell my yellow shirts from my white ones!

Bridget, I agree. T. Boone Pickens once said: "At my age, a penny saved is a penny WASTED!" :D

The older I get, the more sense that makes. I just upgraded a flight to Europe to 1st class and it cost me $3,400. Normally, I would sit in coach and suffer for 12 hours each way. Then I thought "Why? So my kids will have $3,400 more to p!ss away when I die?" Not this time.

Someone once told me, "Money is like manure - it is of no use unless you spread it around."

Happy Labor Day! I'm off and we are going to Mom's later for BBQ and passing the baby around the table.

Got a ton of stuff in my Wizard Labs cart and just staring at it....nope, not gonna order....nope. Not yet. ;) But I was thinking about my PG sensitivity....it sucks because I'm not sure I'll be able to DIY to the level I want with the sensitivity. I know there are some out there that find pretty expensive all VG mixes. Nothing is easy for me. Nothing.

:vapor:

Just found some. Thanks to Levitas (remember him coming to this thread?) he compiled a list of VG flavorings. Thank the lords. Whew!

I'm off to do laundry. Y'all be good!

Thank's Chakris, I can already almost taste it just from looking at the ingredients . The only thing that presents a problem is the garlic chives, since I'm not in the restaurant business anymore I don't have access to some things now. But I am familiar with them so I should be able to wing it.I might check the asian markets in the area we have a large vietnamese population here. Everything else is no problem . Again thanks for the recipe , I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hey no problem, Retic. The Asian market's a good place to start for those garlic chives, but if you can't find 'em regular chives will do in a pinch. Let me know how it turns out. I find it starts out a nice sweet, sour & nutty combo the first couple of handfuls, then the peppers start to kick in, so have your cold one(s) handy! :toast::toast::toast:

Football season is crazy. Delivered the oldest to practice this morning at 7:20. It's cooled off a bit today, so who knows how long they will practice. It's funny that they won't practice late on a Wednesday night due to church services, but holidays, oh yeah, lets get up at the crack of dawn and have practice..

Ok, I just had to explain to my 13 y/o what 'snowy' tv was.. He has a few lines in his laptop screen and wants me to buy a new one.. I explained we watched tv with 'snow' all the time as kids!

Not the same thing tv and laptop, maybe your 13 y/o is right, having lines in a laptop screen is a bad sign. Plug it to another monitor, if lines are still there then definitely hardware issue, graphic chip is burnt maybe, otherwise it is the screen who is getting tired.

Next you will be talking about walking to school uphill in the snow!

Sorry to hear about your grandma, Bridget. We're going through something similar with with my MIL.

I kinda regret not being there through that stuff with our gal, her being in the States for HS and college. We stayed as close as possible through daily chats and frequent video chats as we could. But she's been back almost every year for visits. Good thing was, she was with family and her cousin is about the same age so they were as close as sisters would be.

No time off for labor day, even though they have it today here too. :grr: We've been having special English activities this month, so it's been a break from the usual routine. ;)

Happy Labour Day Army!!!

I played for a couple years on JV, but ran into problems as I was in the varsity/concert band as well. Had to make a choice - play the game or play the half-time. I played the half-time and watched the game! Prolly saved myself from a couple cracked ribs and who knows what else (defensive lineman traded in for 3rd chair trombone).
