Sunday April 4th 2010,

vaping away in my cozy room, what did I spy on my little eye? The "buttin' in" topic on E-cig in Chicago on Fox News. Shockingly enough, they want to ban the use of e-cig being sold openly like regular pack of cigerattes because it's not approved by the FDA... I am shocked.

They've already passed the bill vote of 49 to 41, now they're just waiting for an aproval to pas the bill to ban e-cig sales (or even the use if them just like regular cigerttes). I am not happy one bit and I hope anyone that is from Chicago or anywhere in Illinois sends email, phone calls, or even written letters to these "egg heads" to convince otherwise the use of e-cigs.

OP saw the story reported on Fox. Fox didn't call for or initiate the legislation.

Discussion of that bill and suggestions for actions vapers can take has been going on in the campaigning and other subforums here for awhile now.

tobacco cigs are not FDA 'approved.' FDA just has new oversight powers over tobacco products (which it does not have the ability to ban outright/make illegal, even if it wanted to).

No opinion in the above, just some clarifications/corrections.

Edit: Ah, cross posted with ya Kristin! Yours being the specifically informative one. :)

We just gotta stop shooting messengers!!
Better to get writing, and by the way, keep it substantive and non-confrontational, just stick to the facts why the e-cig should be keep on the adult market as a cigarette
replacement therapy!!!
Call me crazy, but I think some legislators should really get up to speed on the new technology pretty soon. Call them up on their Princess phones, please!

YouTube - Is BigJimW a MOLE for the FDA?

This is the bottom line to it all. Unless some major stuff happens, they will not listen to us. :(
Nice BigJimW....a little over the top though ;)

All this banning is really starting to get old. I wonder if anyone in government actually cares about more important things than money... Worst comes to worst there is always the old standby of making our own island nation. I'll let you know when I've figured out how to make an island artificially....

Yeah, I know it was, but that's the type of mindset we're facing. Maybe not directly by the FDA, but by those "special interests" who has the FDA in their back pockets. They don't care about "you", until you die and they morn the loss of your tax dollar$.

Like this recent "health care" issue, the government proved that it will do what it damn well pleases despite public opposition. When that finally passed and was made into law, any shrad of hope I had for the PV went down the toilet. :(

that blows. whats even more amazing is that cigarettes ARE FDA approved!

Preaching to the choir, Salt... preaching to the choir... sigh.
I hadn't read that it passed the Il. senate... I know the reps only had about three opposing, so I was impressed by the fairly-even split in the senate. It actually sounds like the voice of the people may have gained some support. I know many people contacted them, myself included.
The fines for sellers (if caught) are almost token in terms of $. Interesting.

There is good news after all.

A NASA alert recently issued states that in 2011, when "solar maximum" takes place, it will be the largest solar storm mankind has seen in centuries, even surpassing the one back in 1858 that knocked out all telegraph communications in the US (after the lines fried). This puppy will knock out everything, including the Internets.

So, get your YouTube fame now children, and vape strong, Cuz in 2011, stuff is supposedly gonna happen.

So, you may ask yourself, what does this have to do with the discussion at hand?

Absolutely nothing, but worth noting that if a catastrophy of this magnitude does take place, then what we're going through now will be moot.

actually jim im a big science geek, and yes your right that kind of solar activity can knock out tons of stuff. But not really if they power things down. NASA has a department that monitors the suns activity 24/7 in order to give a proper warning to shut grids down to avoid damage. Last solar maximum satellites, power grids and telephone networks had scheduled shutdowns in areas of the world or space that was going to be hit.
But besides that some systems are still going to get toasted. But if its handled right they will shut down 2/3 of the system and leave the 1/3 to chance to still enable things to function and if they blow they still have a strong partial system ready to take over after the storm has passed.

The Very Latest SOHO Images is a great place to watch the sun. lols

The suns is the least of my concerns, now be affraid if the yellowstone caldera blows. That sucker is due and will change life globally as we know it. All i know is the FDA cant take away my vapiing, im gonna vape till natures fury decides to destroy life on earth.
