Honestly, I wouldn't bother. I tried to make something with the coin tubes I found, and got some rubber stoppers that I cut down and made a hole in. Functionally, it worked great. They didn't leak, and I cut them down good enough to fit very well. But I couldn't use it. The rubber stank very very strongly and, I dunno if it was just in my head or not, but I swear it made my liquid taste very rubbery. I believe the rubber in syringes is made so that nothing from the rubber comes off in the liquid. Wouldn't be a very good syringe if it tainted whatever you were injecting. That's why I'd just stick with the syringes.

Yes, I can believe that. The grommets I did get had a stronger rubber smell than the syringe plungers. I just wish I could get the syringe plungers w/o the syringes. I hate wasting an entire syringe. LOL. I thought about calling novagen and seeing if they would sell me a bag of 100 plunger rubbers. I don't think the rubber plungers are going to last forever. With the use mine have had so far, I fear they are going to become too soft and start to degrade at some point.

Well as with many other vaping accessories you need to just consider the syringe mods as disposable. The first one I made is going on 3 or 4 weeks now with no problems. If they last me more than a month I consider it a great deal. But it looks like they are going to last quite a bit longer.

And on top of that, when you compare the cost to the tank mods the different vape stores are selling for $20+ these are much more economical.

I will be watching this thread for further innovations to this tank mod! Especially ways to fill it without using a needle.

I put a small fill hole in my tank (make it with a belt hole puncher), and I do usually fill with a blunt end needle. I've found that I can fill it from the top though, by doing the following:

Take a bottom '.... plug' condom and trim it down so there are no sides, just the bottom and the plug.
Stick the plug in the bottom hole of the carto and stand the tank up on the battery end.
Remove the small 'fill hole' plug (I make my fill hole right at the top of the tank for this reason).
Take the cap or drip tip off of your carto/tank and drip juice into the filler.

With the bottom battery hole stopped, and the fill hole open, liquid should soak through the filler, out the holes/slots in the carto, and into the tank. If you don't some sort of way for air to leave the tank (small fill hole) the liquid won't go into the tank it will just sit in the filler.

Once the tank is full, put the fill hole stopper in (very important to do this first or you will have massive leakage). Let it sit for a few, then remove the bottom '.... plug' and let your tank drip into another bottle or hold it over a sink or tissue. A few drops should drip out and then the pressure or vacuum (or whatever) should kick in, and it will stop dripping. Blow the rest out and clean off the battery end before you put it on your batt.

This probably doesn't help anyone but me, since everyone else seems to be using a larger fill hole, but I thought I'd post it anyway :)

The 3 ml plunger I use for my filler hole is starting to come apart. I still haven't changed the size of the hole as I still have 3 more syringes waiting to be converted into a tank. I figure I'll just wait until then. In the meantime, I may try using the rubber stopper from a carto and see how that works. I could see it being stronger and lasting longer than a 3 ml syringe plunger.

Oh yeah, I agree. I am considering the rubber parts as disposable. That's why I'd like to find a source for just the plungers only. If I can't, it's fine. They are still cheap enough that it's a very economical way to make and use a tank. So, no problems or complaints really. Just sort of thinking out loud.

One other thing I've noticed, is it seems that my rubber end caps are starting to stretch. Used to be, they held the carto tight enough that I could spin the tank itself and disconnect it from the battery. I do this when travelling to stop the pocket firing. Now the tank just spins on the carto. As you guys have mentioned, these things should be viewed as disposable, and I completely agree. They're so cheap and easy to make, that I'm not complaining, just mentioning my expeience :) Oh, and while it spins on the carto while trying to unscrew it from the battery, it still doesn't leak, so that's still a huge plus in my book. Considering those $20+ tanks are well known for spinning on the carto and leaking right out of the mailbox :)

That would be great if you could find the rubber plungers in bulk. Id be all over that.

Yep, rubber's going to degrade. The syringes are really meant to be single use, so the rubber is not designed to last through multiple uses. Even just using a syringe for measuring, the rubber plunger will eventually start to not 'slide' up and down the barrel as well as it does when it's new. It's just the nature of rubber I guess. I suppose if you could find something that was silicone or some other material, it might last longer, but eh... there's no point really.

Okay, Ima call neogen right now. Let's see what the poor customer service person that has to deal with me and my weird question has to say. :D

Okay, I called. I talked to Virginia, and she was very sweet, but couldn't think of any way that I could buy the plungers only. She says she's seen bags of them sitting around, but couldn't think of a way they could get them to me since they only sell through distributors. Oh well, worth a try.

With the rubber sliding on the carto you should try washing it with some soap and water if you take the mod apart so there is no juice at the contact points to act as a lubricant. The first tank I made is still tight on the carto.

On a side note I fill mine with a syringe so I dont take it apart when filling it.

I don't take mine apart either, as I have a fill plug :) I'm going to have to dismember it and clean it anyway, as the little plunger for the fill hole isn't holding up so well and is starting to put little pieces of rubber into the liquid. My tank has floaties :/

And sadly, all their plungers appear to be 1 or 2 ring (not 3) plungers, not sure how well those seal.

But those tip protectors look like they'd make awesome filler hole plugs :)

Seems the two ring is what the original video showed, and was using and recommended.

I watched that video for the first time lol. It was so self explanatory, I never really watched any videos, except for how to tint the tanks. Seems that we've evolved quite a bit since that video was made. With the finding of the saddle valve to punch holes, carto cuts are no longer needed to get juice in. Since somebody started using filler holes, we don't need to use syringes to fill them. And one thing I've noticed, but haven't seen it mentioned, is that with a long enough drip tip, you can make the tank as long as the carto. I use the cheapo plastic tip that came with my C.C.V. boge carto order and it's plenty long enough. So I don't have to leave any extra carto sticking out the top end to keep my mouth from hitting the tank. Also gives me more volume inside the tank. Just some things in the video that could be updated if anybody were interested. I've mentioned to others that I was going to make this video or that, but I haven't gotten around to it just yet. Maybe somebody with a better camera personality can do better than I would ;)
