Hobby Lobby did have rubber earring backs. They'll take a bit of work to use but I just got a small bag of beaded headpins to fill the hole - which appears to go all the way through. Pic here - although they don't look round in the pic they are.

Hey Robot - I made a couple of these using the syringes from David's vid on YouTube - (RuralKing.com and if you call they will ship whatever # you need by usps, syringes and shipping are cheap) - (20cc Luer Slip #9273C) -I use a filling method that you might want to try that works with these and my other commercial tanks - first, take the soft tip that came on your carto and plug the center hole with a small, cut piece of a q-tip - next, with the tank attached to your device, remove the drip tip and replace with the plugged soft tip - CAREFULLY! work the tank up and away from your battery until the mouth end of the carto is inside the tank 1/8th or 1/4" - at this point, you can squeeze your juice directly onto the plugged soft tip until your tank is full - CAREFULLY! work the tank back down until the soft tip is back in position, remove the tip, replace your drip tip and your good - have used this method at least 15 times and the worst is a little juice residue on the soft tip - Once you are comfortable with this, you will love it.
I tried you method for filling the tank out of curiosity and it does work. But sometimes the plunger gets pushed up from the bottom when you slid the carto back up to the top. So far I like a small filler hole plugged with a rubber ear ring back, but you need a syringe to fill it, or use the smallest syringe plunger you can find, then you can fill with a bottle. With the syringe plunger, it hard to drill a hole in the tank and get the burrs off the inside of the tank without scratching it up. With the small hole you can punch it out with a leather/belt hole punch and its a pretty clean hole. I have found a nice way to plug a small hole with a piece of the condums that come with the carto's if anyone is interested.

Always interested in a different way. :)

Wizard, I'm not sure if the ones you have will work as well since they are a tube with no larger diameter end. You'll run the risk of pushing it all the way in.

Not when I'm done with it I won't :D

I'll take a pic when I'm done with the tank.

Thanks for the link - those were the right things but shipping and handling was 3x the price of the earnuts ;)

OK, my turn...

The 1ml syringe ($.25) filler plunger plug is in a 5/16" hole. Note that I put it quite close to the feed holes. I've found that there is no leaking due to the lil' pressure when reinserting the plug in this location, as the feed hole vents that pressure.

ETA: This tank hold 4.5ml, plus the carto volume.

Looks like it sticks out a little too far for my comfort level. I ride a motorcycle and carry my tank in my jacket pocket. I could see it shifting around and catching something and popping open, leaking e-juice all over my smartphone. Not something I'd care to have happen to me :)

Yeah - the plug itself sticks out less than 1/8" - I kinda liked the green ball.

Don't you find that using a small plunger still requires the use of a syringe? Me personally, I'm not going to carry a syringe around with me for refilling purposes. Just not something I feel comfortable with. I need a bigger hole than that.

I prefer using a syringe to a big hole - one of the cool things about this is we can customize them the way *we* want. I've only gotta fill it once a day and I've got a syringe handy ;)

I played with an EMDCC mouthpiece and decided I didn't like it although I did kinda like chewing on the things :)

I did cut the bottom off one of those mouthpieces and used it to cover the threads on my battery but decided it was more trouble than it was worth.

Yes, but without trying to sneak the needle past a plug.

Me personally, I'm not going to carry a syringe around with me for refilling purposes.

I do my refilling at home. I can always carry extra tanks if I'm concerned about joose supply.

I need a bigger hole than that.

Then the 3ml plunger filler plug should suffice ya. I just didn't care for the large 'wart'.

ETA: Sumpin' in between would be ideal. Just haven't found anything... yet.

I like the tiny fill hole. I use TV bottle tips in my bottles (they fit in most vendors 30ml bottles) and don't need a needle to fill, though sometimes I still use one becaue I fill my cartos with them...I just load it up and use it as needed to refill the tank until it's empty, then go with the pointy bottle tip. It's awesome how everyone can make these how they want them. :)

I tried the 1ml plunger and it was a little too difficult to put it in. The 3ml one works perfectly. Im still looking for something in between also

I just trimmed the end a bit, the part that is bigger than the body, and it fits in much easier. Trimming it doesn't affect the sealing.

I haven't made enough tanks yet to carry around extras :) I agree that the 3 ml plunger is pretty huge. I would also love something in between, but alas, as everybody has mentioned, that hasn't been found yet :/ Then again, not long ago, we didn't even know about building tanks, so I would say that I'm sure an answer is right around the corner. Somebody will wander in, or go shopping somewhere and find that perfect filler plug and say "Hey, check this out guys!". That's how we found the greatness of the saddle valve to put holes in cartos after all ;)
