Homemade syringe tank mod, looks easy!

I thought the 3 ridges would be best, too. That's why I got the ones I did, by the picture it showed in the auction, looked like 3 ridges. When I got them, I was disappointed because they only had 2 ridges. But they are very sturdy, and work really well. I've dropped them, put them in my pocket, basically thrown them around, refilled numerous times, no leaks.

These look pretty good. eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices. I can't say for sure though. The ones I got are GPS brand. We also know Ideal syringes work well. We can cross off the list Monoject. IMHO, the BD ones looks like a flimsy plunger.

Thats a smooth cut you made on the tank. What did you use to cut the syringe?

Yes, we're counting the same way. If you look closely in the original video, his only have 2 ridges. What we're looking for is the thickness.

The 1st time I went to TS, they only had 1 Ideal syringe, it had 3. I bought it, and went to another TS. The Ideal's had 2 ridges there. Go figure.

But they were the right thickness (the two ridge ones), correct?

The package from my syringe (the one in the picture) says Ideal Instruments, Item# 9173, but I think I recall someone earlier saying that they got two different type plungers with the same item number. This is annoying. I don't want to order 50 syringes and have them be the wrong thing.

My husband can get me some from work, but they are BD (I think) and I know they are thinner rubber plungers.

Boy, they're really trying to mess with our heads... I didn't use my one and only syringe with 3 ridges from TS because it didn't match, duh...

the ideal syringes are the only ones i found with a thick stopper. unfortunately they both had the same sku and barcode and the packages were identical so i could see no way to differentiate between the thin one and the thick one without buying it and opening it up.
if you get the thin one you can use a piece of 1/4 by i think 5/8 clear pvc tubeing to fill the slack. the kind in big rolls you have to cut by the foot. you only need a piece about 1/4 inch long. take the plunger cap and the carto to home depo. you want the tubeing (inside diameter) to just fit over the carto and be tight and the outside diameter will just fit inside the larger open end of the plunger.when you assemble put this tubing piece on the carto first then the plunger cap on top of that. for anybody with both you can see how the tubing acts as a spacer and when everything is assembled it will be tight and not move at all. in fact the tubing will push out the center of the plunger a tiny bit and make it tighter.

Apparently TS carries at least two diff style syringes. Just bought a box of four Ideal 3 ridge 20ml. My plunger tips are 1 cm from base to top of 'dome'. Hope that helps ya'll.

I think tri seal is the type of plunger we are looking for.

Ricks- which ones did you order? Do you have a link?

This is the rubber part from a 3 ml IDEAL syringe I got from Tractor Supply. I'm assuming it's similar to the one Bill was talking about. I couldn't manage to drill a nice clean hole through the tank though, so I haven't used it yet.

I could buy a lot of pre-made tanks for the price of a drill press. Wish I already had one, or a friend that has one.
