Those are great bottles. I've got a few. I just bought these on ebay. eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I still have to put fill holes in my tanks. I'm just waiting until I need to switch to a new carto, figure it'll be easier when I'm cleaning them anyway. The cartos just seem to go on and on. Do you get an uneven pressure in the tank when you push the plug in? I mean, does it push any additional air into the tank to upset the balance?

Maybe it was the talk of condoms? Way back in the thread I had a post where I mentioned .... plugs about 10 times. Talk about trashy!

I thought I'd post about these bottles I found. Since my fill hole is small I decided to get some luer capped bottles. There may be better deals out there, but I wanted at least 2 oz bottles without a needle attached so I could add my own gauge needle. These are what I found: Approved Vendor 5FVF1 Bottle, Disposable, w/Cap, 2 oz., Pk 5 free shipping, woot!

I had some 18 gauge needles that I got from the Tractor Supply store, so I took my handy new dremel and cut the sharp part off of the needles, so now I've got some nifty needle cap bottles that hold 60+ mls for squirting directly into my tanks.

I don't think so. If I forget to put the fill plug back in all the juice leaks out, but once you put the plug back in the juice will stop dripping. Sometimes when I push the plug in a little bubble will come out of the carto, but that's about all that happens. It doesn't seem to mess anything up.

Oh, and I saw those bottles when I was shopping around and that's a good deal. I really wanted 2 oz though, since I've been mixing up 60 mls of my all day juices. And I couldn't tell how big the tip actually was. My fill holes are very small.

You're displacing air within the tank when you reinsert the fill port plug. That's why I put my fill ports near the bottom of the tank. I turn the tank upside down to fill and reseal. Any displaced air will escape via the carto slits/holes without displacing joose.

If you reinsert the port plug with the carto holes covered with joose (upright), some joose will be forced out since the displaced air will force the joose into the already saturated filler material. Ergo, leak.

Did that make sense to ya'll? Regardless, I get no leaks as a result of refilling...

A number of posts "back" there was talk of how to put a flange on the end of the carto. I came up with this idea today.

I used a 3/8 inch Pushnut Bolt Retainer from Sears H/W for 20 cents. They hold very firm once put on. Press it on from the battery end just far enough to clear the threaded insert of the carto. If you push it too far on and need to start over just keep pushing it toward the mouth end and it will come off. But it won't come off from the battery end.

The Pushnut:

Fitted to batt end of carto:

OK - so it's not a factory fit as bought. It's actually pretty tight fit, so to make it easier to insert the carto, I tapped a punch into the Pushnut to open it up a little, then it was easy to put on the carto just pressing it with my fingers.

Got a bunch of supplies coming to do this and im curious what most are doing, holes or slits ? From what ive read it seems like it varies depending on vg/pg content. Right now im using 50/50 but ive got some 100% vg ave juice coming. I read about 10 pages and didnt get a definitive answer, not up for 160 pages of reading. Thanks

JMO but I don't think it makes a lot of difference unless the hole's too big. Some people use a dremel tool, some use a saddle valve, some use sheet metal screws and some use a hammer and a deck screw or a finishing nail.

I've punched small holes using the saddle valve on Boge 3.0 cartos and juices have wicked great in every one of them (VG heavy and PG heavy). But I'm having problems with these Mega XL HV 2.0 ohm dual coil cartomizer with the VG heavy juice. The PG heavy juice seems to wick, but it seems a lot slower than on the Boge's (they will still crackle). But with the VG juice, it seems it stops crackling after the juice that I pre-filled in the carto is used up. I've tried one hole (the way I've been doing it on the Boge's), two holes (same as on Boge's), and one larger hole, and two larger holes.

I'm wondering if the filler material is different and has a harder time soaking up from the tank. Anyone by chance using any 2.0 dual coils with more success than me?

If the packing's not burning it's probably wicking fine. Dual coil cartos generally run at a lower temperature but have more coil in contact with the packing - so if it's not crackling there may be nothing wrong with it.

I've got two 1.7 ohm single coil cartos in tanks - one crackles and the other doesn't but both wick fine. The juice in both is all VG except for flavoring.
